Do you have plastic replacement shield for light bulb for GE Exhaust Hood - Model JV347 0XIAA - Serial GS867119C ?

I'm betting 60 watt is much higher than the wattage recommended generating way too much heat in the confined space under the plastic shield. There should be a sticker in the bulb compartment listing the maximum wattage recommended.

All kitchen appliances bulbs

When replacing the bulb in any appliance, use only the low wattage appliance bulb....not just any bulb.

What is the wattage for the halogen lights for the hood. There are two lights but they do not list the wattage

As a general rule, the size and shape of the bulb will determine the wattage. Match it up with ones in the store, the value can be slightly higher or lower but it will still work just fine. Halogen bulbs burn out much quicker if you handle them without gloves or tissues. The oil from your fingers will cause them to burn out faster.

Check your owner's manual for the proper wattage bulb, and be sure NOT to exceed it.

I turned the lights on the high setting for a couple of hours, and the bulb just blew out. I then touched the top of the hood and it was very hot. Should a bulb blow out for no reason? I am worried that...

Check the documentation and make sure the wattage on the light bulb does not exceed what is recommended. For instance: Mine says no more than 75 watts incandescent light bulb.

2 of the lights won't work, yes I tried several new light bulbs.

You need to get a meter and actually see if there isn't any Voltage in the actual socket, if NOT then you need to check for continuity, from the main feed into the unit and the socket connection, (Do this POWER OFF) It may be a loose or bad, connection. Also check, you are using the correct bulbs, ensure you replace with exactly the same Voltage and Wattage, usually it is written on the bulb, if not a simple resistance test, and some maths, will tell you the wattage. Using a multimeter set to OHMS you measure the filament in the bulb, and take the answer, RESISTANCE OHMS and divide that into your mains VOLTAGE, then taking that answer from that AMPS, and, taking that answer of the AMPS, and now multiplying by the same VOLTAGE we get our WATTS. Formulae, V/R=A, AxV=W

Miele DA270 Vent Hood Light Bulbs

I just bought two at Home Depot for around $7 each. I, too, saw the inexpensive internet ones and decided to spend the extra money and look at them first. I bought bulbs by Philips, called Desk & Cabinet (for enclosed bulbs). They are 20W and 12 volts as you said. It's a G4 Base T3. Now that I have these, I'll likely buy the cheaper ones next time.

Dacor IVS1 Vent Hood - How to change a light bulb?, JDR120V-75W-E27CG...also comes in 50 watt. They aren't inexpensive, but if installed properly, will last a while. We have a little suction cup to take them out and put them in. It came with the range hood. If you get fingerprints on a halogen bulb, it can blow out quicker.
