Switches on and switches off immediately

thanks to LaurenAndKen,my camera is fixed man! i was planning to throw it away because im already pissed off, i tried new batteries and memory card but wont work,until i did what LaurenAndKen advise ***press and hold ON button and pull out lens assembly...now my camera is perfectly okay..

I had the exact problem. After searching online for multiple solutions, the following worked for me... Press and hold the power button while at the same time use your fingernail to pick and pull at the lens assembly. Pull the lens assembly at the circular ring gap between the housing and the barrel of the lens itself. It only took me about 3 to 5 tries to get it to work. It's been working fine ever since. That`s not going to help it.

My camera is doing the same thing and I have been using my 4gb memory stick with it for the past two months.

My camera still shits off even with out my memory card in it.

The DSCS500 Camera is not compatible with the a 4GB Memory Stick, it's only compatible upto 2GB.
Please try using a Memory Stick which is 2GB or less capacity.

my camera was not switched on. so i charged the battery fully.then i inserted. but few times the cybershot screen dispalyed, automatically get switched off. now again same problem. its not switched on.

My camera has the EXACT same problem. It just says Cyber-shot with a black background for 1.5 seconds then immediately shuts off.
so what can i do now.
