Replaced water filter on a Maytag refrigerator it uses whirlpool filter. when filter is replaced and you try to use the water dispenser you get a loud grinding noise from the filter, how do you fix this?

Hi,

I need to know which model you have, because i would explain the issue you have better. I thin it would be a MSD model and it could mean a board collision in the touch panel to the dispenser.
Please let me know your model so I can help you further.

Good Luck

Where is the filter for the ice maker on whirlpool refer model number ED2CHOXK005

Removing and replacing a water filter - base grill location

Filters situated in the base grill (below the freezer compartment) of Whirlpool-built side-by-side refrigerators are relatively simple to replace. Follow these two steps:
  1. Grasp the filter's end and make a one-quarter turn to the left.
  2. Pull the filter straight out.
To replace with a new filter, repeat these two steps in the opposite order, making sure to first remove the red cap from the filter. Proceed by pushing the filter straight into the slot, and then giving it a one quarter turn to the right.
Note: Replacing this type of filter is quick - there is no need to unplug your refrigerator when replacing it. Also, this filter should be replaced every six months.

Model GR2SHK/GRASHM - Fridge has water condensation on top of back wall. It is pooling on shelves and freezing. The fridge and freezer are set at the recommended settings. Thank you for your help.

You will need to remove all food and the ice maker ( if equipped ) . Slide out the freezer bottom , and remove the 2 ( or 3 ) screws holding the back freezer panel on , and remove the panel . Using a hair dryer , start in the middle , under the coils , and defrost until you see a hole ( defrost drain hole ) . Using hot water to help , defrost this hole until water starts to flow out . Get a short piece of hose , insert one end into the hole , and blow thru it , to blow out any unseen debris in the drain line . Then , get a piece of solid ( preferably aluminum , but copper will work ) wire , such as a large diameter ground wire , and insert one end as far as it will go , without any resistance , into the hole , and then wrap about 2 turns , around the black rod ( defrost heater ) just above the hole , When the refrig goes into defrost , the heat will transfer to the wire , keeping the drain hole from freezing up again .

Remove the lower freezer panel end then remove the rear panel . Remove the ice under bottom panel . Useing a hair dryer , heat the aluminum tray under the coils until you see the black drain hole . Continue defrosting the hole until free of ice . Could help useing a small screwdriver into hole . Even hot water into hole could help to clear . Once water will drain into hole , use a small hose inserted into hole and blow thru it to clear and obstruction in the line (line is inside the cabinet , unaccessable ) , Then find about a 14-16 gauge aluminum wire , aluminum fence post tie , aluminum ground wire , and insert it into the hole until resistence is felt . Wrap the top portion about 1 turn around the calrod (black) heating element and cut off the rest of the aluminum wire . The element will transfer heat to the wire during defrost , to keep the drain hole clear of ice .
