Satellite out is likely intended for relay purposes so that if you have more than one receiver, you can connect both to the same satellite dish.
There should be Video out, such as composite, component or HDMI. You'll want to connect that to the TV.
If your TV has a built in digital receiver (such as for cable or satellite TV), what is likely happening is that your TV itself is now attempting to find a channel instead of your Motorola receiver, unless you are certain that the menus you are navigating are those used on the Motorola receiver, not on your TV.
If connecting the video-out cables from the receiver to the TV doesn't alleviate the issue, please post a follow up here with the model numbers for your TV and receiver.
When you place a call, does it go from 4 bars of signal to 0. If this is what it happening, then your 9505 satellite phones signalling processor has become out of allignment, and needs serviced. We service all forms of satellite equipment. 877-258-3496
It has been a while since I worked on these kind of electronic equipment and I do not remember or kept any notes about specific troubleshooting. I worked for a company before that was repairing these motorola satellite receivers for starchoice Canada.
Are you using the audio/video inputs or RF input?
Where in Canada do you live?
in the past few years there has been alot of HD changes with directv. There are new dishes and more programming. what type of receiver are you using. it may need the to update its software? You also can try this. power up the receiver without any satellite cables plugged in. see if it will start clicking. if it doesnt plug in the satellite cable. let me know what happens
