Is the foot pedal not returning to the off position? Try disconnecting the foot pedal. If the machine stops running, then your problem is in the foot pedal. If it keeps running, then your control board is bad.

Pfaff 7570 .. press foot to start...starts forward slowly ...will not stop without switching off power will not change speed ...will not select stitches

There could be several things going on with your machine, but once you take care of cleaning and oiling, you will be able to narrow down the other(s). Refrain from trying to run the machine as the drag on the motor in attempting to move the stuck parts could damage the motor.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

My machine won't stop running when turned on

Since you turn it on and it starts to run without your help the foot control has a problem. Try to pull the control apart and turn it on again. It is likely the spring is either broken or dislodged from where the bracket is. Check the spring.

My Bernina 801 sport will not sew. When I step on the foot pedal, nothing happens. Sometimes it will sew for a few seconds and then stop. I cleaned it out but still will not sew

There can be a few problems that match your inquiry. Pleas check the machine in the following logical order:
  1. The power cable can be defective....With the machine plugged in and un-threaded, step on the foot control to check for a motor run condition and at the same time wiggle the cables at the motor plug connection. If the machine runs/stops/runs and stops, it is likely that the cables and or plug are damaged. Replace the cable. If the cable is found to be good, go to step 2.
  2. Check the motor run condition by changing foot controls. If the machine runs without a run/stop problem, the original foot control will have to be rebuilt. If the foot control is found to be good, go to step 3. Step 3 is for a qualified technician level of competency only.
  3. Remove the power cable, back cover, motor belt, motor housing. Remove the closing plate on the back of the motor housing to inspect the motor brushes. If the carbon brushes have worn out, you will probably find some damage to the commutator bars due to the brush springs having arc-worn the commutator. Generally, this type of damage can be repaired with excellent results. Most of the time however, motor brushes are installed by a sewing machine repair person, but no effort is made to repair the damage by resurfacing the commutator to a precision cylindrical diameter. This being the case, new motor brushes will have a very short life and further damage to the motor is likely.. Amateur attempts are sometimes made by applying some sort of tool or sandpaper to the commutator while the motor is running in an attempt to resurface, but concentricity and cylindricity cannot be achieved in such a manner....If the motor brushes are good go to step 4.
  4. Examine the commutator bars on the motor armature carefully for any burned spots on the borders of the copper commutator bar insulators. If such burn spots are evident, the armature will have two or more dead spots. At this point, the motor should be replaced.

Turning on the power makes the machine run FAST....how can I get it to stop?

if you turn the machine on and it's running by itself then the machine may have a short in the wiring,, or there could be something wrong with the motor

My mom's old singer will start sewing then slows down to a stop.

It may need a REALLY thorough cleaning & oiling, Cindy, including the motor bearings. The motor's windings may be getting weak, too, or the new belt may be slipping.

There is no speed adjust, but 1st you must know the source of the slow down. Remove the belt from the motor pulley and run it, if it goes fast try turning the hand wheel if it is stiff the machine needs clean and oil. If it turns freely you motor may be dirty or just slow. If dirty, sometimes you can without the blet attached run it at full speed for 10 to 15 minutes. It should get faster as you run it. If not motor is weak or slow needs replace. Just replacement motor as genuine probably no longer available.

Old model Bernina 830, running ok, then kept running, won't stop. disconnected cord, disconnected foot control, plugged cord into motor, motor runs without foot control. Reconnected foot control, motor...

There is a thing called a suppressor which is normally located in the foot control which has fused, you need to open the foot control and you should see a a small thing that looks liuke a fuse connected to the two terminals which you need to take out and discard because you don't need it any more, if you don't have on in the control then it will be on the motor which means you will have to take it in for repair.

Machine stopped running, its getting power but wont run.

I would take it back to your service tech or choose another. It may be something simple that needs replacement, like a new cord. (or . . .)

Also, before thinking of buying a new machine, I would get another opinion.
