Question about HP Pavilion dv6000t Notebook
Today morning i started my laptop successfully, then a popup came for updating the security which i accepted. Soon it started dowloading but i noticed that i am losing shortcuts from the desktop. I immediately tried to cancel it and failing to do so i shut down the computer. When i try to restart the laptop a black screen comes up. On restarting the laptop it says a recent hardware or software change might be the cause for the problem and gives the info that boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. I tried restarting in safe mode but withput ay luck.
I have some important documents which i dont want to loose.
I would be grateful for your advice.
If you reistall the operating system, your data will be lost for sure.
Solution: Obtain a Linux Ubuntu 9.04 live CD or DVD. Boot with this, and under the Linux operating system mount the existing hdd. Plug an external hdd, navigate into the internal disk and you can "drag and drop" all data drom the internal disk to the extrernal. Close the pc, remove the "live dvd'' and now you can reistall any operating system.

IT IS ALWAYS WISE TO HAVE AN EXTERNAL HARD-DRIVE, BECAUSE THE WAY YOU HAVE EXPLAINED THIS SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE RECEIVED A VIRUS, IF YOU CAN'T START IN SAFE MODE, THEN UNFORTUNATELY YOU WILL HAVE TO REINSTALL THE OPERATING SYSTEM
