Ensure the monitor is set to HDMI input. Sometimes you can bump the wrong button on the monitor and it sets to VGA.
If this does not work, Check the sound out, ensure it is set to speakers.

SOURCE: I can't get a signal from my desktop to my hdtv

First, make sure the computer port is working in the computer by going to the device management ICON in control panel.

Once you check that, make sure you have set up your preferences in the TV to allow "INPUT" from the HDMI port. If you have more than one HDMI ports make sure you have the correct number listed. This is a common error. It would be the same if you are running a DVR with an HDMI cable, you need to set up the TV. Normally you hit the "INPUT" button on the remote control and a list pops up. Scroll over with the arrows to the correct HDMI port. You will likely need to do this again to get back to the cable input once you are finished with the computer connection.

SOURCE: what is the second hdmi

I presume by second HDMI that you've got an additional Video Card in one of the expension slots (Item 10 at the link below) with another HDMI output

http://support.gateway.com/s/desktop/2010/gateway/dx/dx4840/DX4840rv.shtml

The HDMI surrounded by orange is an ouput but if you've got and additional Video Card then this build in HDMI would normally be deactivated.

Sometimes the problem relates to the screen resolution you've got your computer set to as this needs to match your Monitors HDMI Input i.e.1280x720 or 1920x1080 as detailed at the link below.

How can i connect my hp pavillion s5610y to my bravia tv

This is a bit complicated since there is no HDMI output capability to the PC, only VGA and DVI. First, check to see if the Bravia has one of its HDMI ports listed as DVI capable. If it does, it should have accompanying audio jacks (red/white) for it. What you would need to get is two different cables for interface. The first is a DVI-to HDMI cable to run from the PC DVI port to the Bravia DVI-compatible HDMI port. You cannot run the DVI to a regular HDMI port because if you do you will get only picture and no sound. DVI outputs, unlike HDMI outputs, do not carry the audio signal. A DVI-compatible HDMI port on a TV set will connect the video from the HDMI port and the audio from the reserved audio port accompanying it. The second cable you need will be a mini stereo audio plug to RCA jacks. This will connect between the PC audio out (green), and the DVI audio plugs on the set. See pictures for cables below

Once you have this done, selecting the appropriate HDMI port on the set should result in audio and video getting to the unit. If you only need the video (you are going to use the PC speakers), then you don't need the audio cable and you can use any HDMI port, but you cannot control the volume using the TV set remote. You would need to use the PC volume settings. (Just as an afterthought if the set has no DVI-compatible HDMI port).

How to fix my gateway DX4870-UB20P that overheats

The best that you can do is to make certain that all of the fans turn and are clear of dust, cat hair and other blockages.
Also the case is designed for air to flow thru it with the covers in place.
You may wish to add an additional fan to blow into the case.

It may be your system does not support sound over HDMI, as some computers don't. I would double check this is a feature your system supports.

I can not get 7.1 HDMI audio output on my Gateway GM5664 running Windows 7.

While DVI and HDMI offer compatible video lines, the DVI connection offers support for two analog audio channels only and cannot transport data packets required for digital audio. You will not get anything beyond 2.1 audio across the dongle.

If you have a HDMI connector on your graphics board and your external hardware, try to use a proper HDMI cable.

You will get better help at a computer repair shop than a component sales outlet. The same problem with two monitors suggests either bad cables or motherboard trouble.

How can I get my Gateway desktop to recognize my Projector?

it has to be set up as an additional monitor/display. so, there are settings to set up the displays as either twins, unique seperate or something like that. have not had to do it. but i know that the graphics have to be able to recognize what format the signal is. pc settings change and graphics setttings change. have you done both? the projector should have had instructions? if not look for the manual online.

Just set up RX-A700 two things seem wrong. 1. HDMI 1 won't show video if HDMI is plugged in, once plug on HDMI is removed from receiver HDMI 1 works perfectly. 2. HDMI output needs to be held tight or else...

sounds to me like a bad HDMI cable. Just replace it.
If HDMI still wont show, move to another HDMI port. But based on having to hold HDMI cable with hand to steady the connection, it is either a bad HDMI cable, or a bad HDMI port on the receiver. Good luck
