Most "keygens" are written in either
Visual Basic or
Visual C++ and about 90% of them are packed with a Trojan.
If you install the
Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition it updates and fixes any
ActiveX / COM components in the system registry that is need to run VB apps; you don't have to keep it installed.
I would also consider running a registry repair tool like
Uniblue Registry Booster to fix any existing damage to the system registry. After a registry scan,
redistributable for VB and C++ are installed you shouldn't have anymore problems running that keygen; unless there is a trojan packaged with it.
Keep virus protected on your system if you are going to continue running keygen apps.
