Doubtful, do you have a screen protector on it? Those can interfere with the touch screen (digitizer). If the phone is acting sluggish you may want consider performing a factory reset on it or look into which apps are using the most battery life and try removing some of them as they may be causing the issue.

SOURCE: HTC Touch Pro LCD Going black and then sometimes working

is there the "calendar" and "contacts" menu buttons on the bottom of the black screen?

that's what would happen to me. i just turned off the touchFLO 3D on the today screen (by going to settings, then today screen options) and it seems to not go black anymore... even after being untouched for hours.

not sure if the same thing is happening to you, but it worked for me.

SOURCE: how can i replace the touchscreen of a LG KF600

If you are technically minded, yes, you will be able to do this yourself. Otherwise you need a technical person to do it for you.

I assume you are technical. This is what you should do:-

1. You should have the replacement touch screen handy (You should have bought a new touch screen).

2. Remove battery, memory card, sim card etc.

3. Unscrew the screws holding the casing/(housing of the phone) to the panel.

4. Then with object like a knife, position the edge gently between where the lower and upper parts of the casing contact/(close up) and pry open.

5. You will see where you can disconnect the touch screen from the panel. Gently detach from the panel. Connect the new one and reassemble.

there is a hardware issue. Apple should give you a replacement. If you're out warranty, you can try to open it and camera module. If that fails you need a new logic board. You can get the part on Ebay or at iPhone Repair and there is a free guide that shows you how to open a kindle and install parts at iPad Repair Guide.

SOURCE: the touch screen no longer works and the screen goes blank

two things probably 1 the "flex" cable connecting the phone's lcd unit to the main board is broken or ripped or even slightly twisted more than it shud have been or 2 the lcd unit as whole is bad with a minor problem(inclusive of problems to connector joints)
what u cud do at this point is send it a service center... unless u want to open the device which i would say is a pure risk u d be taking... claim any warranty if needs be...

Touch screen not working / not registering touch

Follow the steps mentioned below until your problem is sorted.
1. Restart Your Android Device It works 80% of the time. Screen locking/managing applications often make touchscreen unresponsive. In that case you need to restart your Android device. How can I reboot my tablet, the touchscreen is not working.. Good question!
  • Grab your Android tablet/phone
  • Press and hold the Power Button for 10 seconds or until the screen goes blank.
  • Wait a minute or two and then power on your device normally using the same button.
2. Eject Memory Card and Sim Shutdown your Android device and remove the Memory card and Sim(s) attached to it. Also, remove the battery for few seconds if possible.
3. Remove Any Cases Smart cases are good in protecting your device from scratches and damage. But their automatic screen wake/sleep feature sometime cause the device to malfunction. Remove the case, perform a restart.
4. Hard Reset your Android For advanced users. If everything else doesn't work, try doing a hard reset on your phone. This will wipe your phone/tablet and return it to its original condition. This usually involves holding down Volume-Up and Volume-Down button together and then pressing Power Button (every phone has different method). It starts your device in Recovery mode, you can do a Wipe-Factory-Reset from there. Use volume up/down buttons to navigate and press Power button to select. Be careful and don't mess with other options or you may brick your phone.
5. Knocking the Touchscreen (Not recommended) Remove the Screen Protector on your Android device if present. Now, gently knock every corner of your touchscreen to realign it. Sometimes continuous phone drops cause screen digitizer cable to loses its connection to device motherboard however, its a rare case.
If you are still unable to make touchscreen work maybe its time to claim warranty, Its a lengthy process but works. Also, post comments below to share other tips not mentioned in this article.

Sounds like a defective touchscreen.
1. Remove Battery, Attempt to Restart phone. repeat at least twice. 2. heres a method to hard reset this device, if you are unable to do w/o touchscreen take it into your carriers store.
-Press Menu.
-Press Settings.
-Press Reset settings.
-Press All or the settings you want to reset.
-When the box next to a menu item is ticked (V), the setting will be reset.
-Press Reset.
-Key in the phone lock code and press Confirm.
-If it is the first time you use the phone lock code:
-Key in the phone lock code again and press Confirm.
-Press Yes.

2. Contact a service representative of your carrier or take the device into your carriers store, most of the time they will do a hard reset, then replace the phone if you continue having issues.

Good luck!

The touchscreen us not working at all, the other buttons work

Hello

Do not put lotion on your hands and do not touch the screen if your hands are wet. Any kind of moisture can affect the way the touchscreen operates. Moisture sometimes slows the response time from the screen to the operating system.

Check for a protective sheet on the screen. If there is some kind of a film or sheet on the touchscreen, the screen is likely not able to react to all of the sensitivities of the touch of a finger as it normally would.

If there is an application open and the touchscreen seems to not be working, simply close the application and retry it. A frozen application can usually be closed by pressing and holding on the circular button located just below the touchscreen.

Completely reset the phone by holding the "Home" button and the "Reset" button for a full 10 seconds until the phone resets.

Iphone touch screen is not working. Restored the phone from backup succesfully, but screen still doesn't work. Phone receives calls, etc., but can't unlock or answer calls because screen doesn't respond to...

Even though the iPhonemag-glass_10x10.gif is a device that is extremely convenient to have, it still can cause frustrations. Specifically, there may be times when the touch screen does not work properly.

There are various problems the iPhone touch screen could encounter. Although there are times when the screen does not work altogether, there are other situations when certain portions of the screen work and others don't. Of course, it is possible that the entire screen works, but is simply slow. Regardless of the exact problem, there are ways to troubleshoot the iPhone to diagnose the real problem.
  1. tep 1 Remove the wiping cloth that came in the small black envelope along with the iPhone. Wipe the smudges or dust off the screen with this cloth. It is best to wipe in a circular motion.
  2. Step 2 Do not put lotion on your hands and do not touch the screen if your hands are wet. Any kind of moisture can affect the way the touchscreen operates. Moisture sometimes slows the response time from the screen to the operating systemmag-glass_10x10.gif.
  3. Step 3 Check for a protective sheet on the screen. If there is some kind of a film or sheet on the touchscreen, the screen is likely not able to react to all of the sensitivities of the touch of a finger as it normally would.
  4. Step 4 If there is an application open and the touchscreen seems to not be working, simply close the application and retry it. A frozen application can usually be closed by pressing and holding on the circular button located just below the touchscreen.
  5. Step 5 Press and hold the home button as well as the reset button on the top of the phone to turn the iPhone off. A red slider will appear. Slide it to the right to turn the phone off. Press again on the "Reset" button on the top to turn the phone back on.
  6. Step 6 Completely reset the iPhone by holding the "Home" button and the "Reset" button for a full 10 seconds until the phone resets and the Apple logo appears on the phone.
    • If you are using the iPhone in cold weather and wearing gloves, the iPhone will not react to the gloves as it will to the touch of a finger.
    • If the touchscreen is dirty, do not run the iPhone under water. Doing this will likely ruin the phone, but even if it doesn't, it will possibly make the phone run slower.

Garmin Nuvi 680 Touch Screen "touch" works intermittently

Recalibration has nothing to do with repairing this problem. If the touchscreen is non-responsive, how are you going to recalibrate it when it doesn't recognize the key presses?

The problem is caused by a defective touchscreen. SHARP substitued a different touchscreen into the 6xx series that fails even when the glass isn't damaged. The problem is caused by a defect in the manufacturing process where the touchscreen connections becomes detached from the tail that plugs into the board.

The touchscreen connections between the screen and the tail are made from conductive ink that can fracture, most likely caused when pressing on the screen over time.

These defective screens can be identified by a white tail cap at the end of the tail, whereas the original touchscreens have a maroon tail cap. The original touchscreens will only fail if the glass has been broken.

I only use the original touchscreens for all of my repairs.

Is it hard to text on a touchscreen phone?

Hi
having used a touch screen myself it is something you get used to pretty quickly. The samsungs have what they call Haptics which means as you touch the screen the phone gives off a small vibration to let you know you have hit a button function. It sounds weird but actually works well as your brain acknowledges an equivalent button press. I would suggest going to shop and asking for a demonstration of one and see for yourself. Hope that helps?

Touch screen

You may have dust accumulation around the edges of your touchscreen, between the screen and the case. Try using a can of compressed air. Gently press down on the edges of the touchscreen to expose the gap between the screen and the case, and shoot the air in there. This worked for me when my Treo 600 touchscreen stopped responding.
