Question about Oreck Ironman Vacuum

1 Answer

My oreck ironman comes on but shuts off a few seconds later. Appears to run fine other than cutting off.

Think it may be an internal fuse or thermal cutout. Please advise.

I changed the roller brush on my Oreck XL Insight vacuum and now when I turn it on it only runs for about 5 seconds and shuts down Any ideas

Bigme03,
It sounds like you may have been given the wrong brush roller. Several models of Oreck's have a sensor in them that watches for the brush roller turning at the proper speed. The way they do this is by mounting a magnet into the brush roller and the sensor counts the number of times the magnet passes. If that magnet is not there or if the sensor does not detect the magnet passing, ie..a broken belt, it will shut the motor off. The only way you can fix it is to get the correct brush roller and put it back in. Hope this helps!

Why does my Oreck upright. Acumen keep shutting off after a couple of seconds?

Atek,
Sounds like you have one of the Oreck's that has a sensor that looks for the brush turning and you received the wrong brush. Look to see if there is a metal ball embedded in the wood about a quarter or a third of the way down from the end opposite the belt end. If there is not the metal ball, you have the wrong brush roll. Getting the proper brush roller should make all the difference for you. Hope this helps!

Ironman canister won't turn on. took it apart to look at switch and wires. nothing loose, but checked everything... then it worked. today... no signs of life...?

The switch may be failing. You can check switch continuity and operation while the machine is disassembled but it is likely to wait until you have reassembled the machine to fail again.

There are quite a few screws that hold that unit together. A couple of them are under some "buttons" that you have to remove to access those screws. Hope this helps!

They do not have an internal fuse. You probably have a problem with your power cord or the switch.
