There is a coil out side in the unit , it needs cleaning, there is an acid that is used to clean it. Its an easy job, pull the top open and use a stick or something to keep it up so you can spray the coil, with the unit off let soak 10 mins then spray wash with water hose. done
Make sure the Thermostat is set correctly! The problem with mine was the temp in the house was colder than my A/C lowest thermostat setting.I had my AC temp setting on 66 degrees. The temp in the house was a little lower so the AC didnt kick on just the fan blowing cool air and no compressor working. The next day it was warmer out and the house temp was 79. So when I powered up the AC set at 66 i heard the compressor kick in and the AC worked fine.
on a call for air conditioning your therrmastat brings the indoor fan on and the out door unit at the same time. Since your fan comes on in "fan" mode, it sounds like you need a thermastat. For temp. cooling just turn your fan switch to "on" and turn system switch to cool and set desired temp. System will cycle off and on but fan will not shut off until fan control is set back to "auto". I suggest replaceing thermastat
try cleani ng the unit outside with your garden hose first .sounds like its kinda dirty .the dirty er the coil is the higher the amp draw is when it is running .what size is the breaker in the box .thats a 3 an a half ton condensor
this is normal, water is the condensation leaking out,but if leaking inside the van then the drain is pluged up, the drain is on the pass/side outside the van on the firewall, blow air into drain or stick a coat hanger in to hole until water leaks out,
The first problem sounds like the wiring is wrong up at the heating unit not turning on the blower fan in the heater when you call for cooling. Most typical is either something has chewed the wires or the wires have been stripped b something else. The AC not cooling your house can be either it is low on freon or the system is to small for your house. Also check your filter and make sure that it is not blocked and everything is clean with the filter
On the bottom of the air unit is the lever that changes temps. It likes to fall out of place.I propped mine back with a piece of half-inch copper pipe a couple of years ago.Remove glove box then panel on front side of console to access.
