Question about Dell Computers & Internet
E510 boots up,but when I open internet explorer, it shuts down right away. when I try to download anything the unit shut's off, and can't complete install of anything.Very frustrating
Your internet explorer browser could be at fault. Try a different browser such as Chrome or firefox,. If they work then your problem is with the IE browser part of windows. If so, no big deal since the other two browsers are better and less memory intensive.

Testimonial: "Thanks that was my next action, but when I try to load chrome it shuts off !!!!. Then I have to unplugged it, cause it won't re-boot, wait 30 min, plug it back it in, set the date and time, then it re-boots, only to shut down a few minutes later."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

reseat ram if not i'd say to take 1 stick of ram at a time and start the computer with such might be a ram issue or run memtest 1.7 which can be downloaded here http://www.memtest86.com/ boot to cd once downloaded and burned to test ram

When you say "it will not shut down", are you referring to clicking on start and then shut down?
You could try forcing a shut down by holding the power switch down for about 5 seconds.

You may be dealing with bad or overheating with your processor or memory. If possible, try swapping out your memory chips to see if that does the trick. If not, you will have to try swapping out the processor (much less likely you'll be able to swing that).
