Question about Symbol Lot 4 Ls1902t-1000 Barcode Scanners
I have two scanners doing the same thing. One was working fine until I tried to turn off the enter function, and now it puts }w before barcodes. The second beeps four times with a red light that stays on. I got that one to work, but it was putting the }w characters as well, and now it's just beeping again. I have tried defaulting multiple times, and even downloaded Symbols program which doesn't even recognize the scanner. Since they are so out of date, the support center basically wished me the best of luck. I have run out of ideas.
Do you have a configuration manual book?
I think you can go to factory settings from there.

I would scan default barcode again. If you are using PS2 connectors. Scan barcode for PS2 keyboard. And USB for USB connectors. Most likely it is not seeing the device. Or treating as a keyboard as it should.

SOURCE: Enter function
Hi Lee, It can be done by programming the scanning the 'Send Enter Key' barcode twice, from the owners manual. eg Scan the barcodes - Send All Data, Send Enter Key, Send Enter Key, Save

There is more than one way for that imager to send data to the computer. Are you using USB, serial, or is there a little box that goes between your existing keyboard and the PC that accepts the scanner connector?

The four beep error is a communications error. Usually it indicates the scanne is not configured properly. If the scanner is connecting with the CBA-K01-S07PAR cable and you are using a PS/2 keyboard you should have scanned the IBM PC/AT barcode from Adobe page 56 of 342 of the LS2208 Product Reference Guide.
If you do not have a PS/2 keyboard attached and are using a USB to PS/2 adapter you should scan the IBM AT Notebook from that same page. If the scanner does not start working immediately you may have to reboot your system. If the scanner still does not work the CBA-U01-S07ZAR USB cable might be a better choice.
If you are not connecting with either of these cables and are still getting the four beep error a call to the Motorola support center may be in order. Their phone number is 800-653-5350.

The barcode must be a Code 39 barcode, not a Code 39 Extended or Full ASCII barcode. The Enable Code 39 Full ASCII must be scanned from the Symbologies section of the LS2208 Product Reference Guide (page 186 of 342). The Enable Function Key Mapping barcodes would have to be scanned if you are seeing something other than the tab happen when you scan into your application. In Word, for instance you will see the italics enable/disbled whenever the $I is encountered in the barcode.
As for the Covert to Code 39 Full ASCII- that is for Wand and Scanner emulation. The setting was having no effect because you were not connecting to either of these hosts.
