SOURCE: how do i wire a qvc subwoofer to a 3000w 1ohm stable monoblock amp

depends on the amplifier if you have a mono block amp or a regular 2 output amp if it is 2 output make sure to bridge and that means the negative to one output and positive to the other output then need to find out the rms on the speaker. the amp should have the ability to adjust it you might want to get a digital multimeter set it to watts and make sure you only set it to the RMS of the speaker because max handling should be the 1800 and usually the RMS is half the max so it should be 900 w again it depends on the amp and were the adjusting knob is and or if it has one

SOURCE: i need an enclosure for a power acoustik mofo 12''.

Hello miles_jamike,

Power Acoustik recommends a 1.25 CuFt sealed and 2.0 CuFt ported enclosure for the P1, P2 and P3 subs. The PSQ needs 1.25 sealed and 1.75 ported. In physical size, this translates into about 16X12X14 for sealed and about 30X42X15 ported.

You should try to stay pretty close to the recommended enclosure volume for best performance. A good volume calculator is located here on the12V.com website. Just enter the proposed width, height, depth, and material thickness and click the "=" to get the CuFt.

If you are building (or having built) a custom enclosure for a specific location in your vehicle, all you need to do is stay very close to the volume recommended.

If you intend to purchase a generic enclosure, the Goldwood shown here at Parts Express is an exact fit. Atrend also makes good generic enclosures, their model 12SAL in a sealed box with 1.20 CuFt and the 12LSV ported with 2.50 CuFt would be good choices.

Crutchfield has both generic and custom enclosures made by JL, MTX, QLogic, and Bass Slammer. Crutchfield has excellent support. They will respond promptly and positively to your phone or email inquires. If you have never ordered from them, you can use a "friend referral code", such as mine, which is: p7sdj-hrx8q-9800g, and on any order of $200 or more, you receive a $20 discount. And I get a $20 credit on a future order. Also, many orders qualify for free shipping.

Hope this helps.

12 inch sub(JBL) in box with a 500 watt pioneer amp, sounds good with some types of base. would you cut a port hole in speaker box?

riverray1969 it would help if I knew the exact model number of that JBL sub you are referring to. With that info I can provide exact specs.

Basically, you need to build/modify an sub enclosure that is suited for the sub, the music you mainly play, and vehicle tuning. Generally, sealed enclosures will provide tighter bass response and get decently loud. Some would argue that it will give you greater sound quality. A ported enclosure will give you a louder more booming sound. That depends also on where the port is tuned (ex. 32 hz, 36 hz, etc ). You need to make sure that the enclosure meets the sub's airspace requirement as well. A customized well made enclosure is just as important as the sub you put in it.

How do I make a sub box for my single ten inch re sx 10 inch sub dat is 1000 rms. Da box needs to be tuned to 35 hz

yeah, you likely cant build a box to tune 35hz... try just building a box that has correct spec by the manufacture for ideal operation, and adjust the gain accordingly, that's where you will attain your desired hertz, oh and by the way hertz refers to signal, and pulse rate,

Need specs to build box for my truck

I do design sub enclosures for a living and I give free specs on basic setups, so you are in luck. As a starting point I'll start by saying that fitting them under the seat may not work that well. Each sub will need about .75 cu.ft. sealed and probably double or triple that for a good ported box. I can get more specific If you e-mail me (dynami28@charter.net) the specs on those subs. Specifically I will need the Theile Small parameters ( these numbers-VAS, QES, QMS, FS, etc,) and then I can give you a better idea of where they will fit. If they do go under the seat they will probably not produce really low bass because smaller boxes generally produce higher bass tones. This decision should be based on what you listen too and what you expect them to sound like. They most likely will be more thump than boom and some people like that, so figure that out as well and let me know. Also my father has the same truck and there is a lot of room under the back seat. You can also gain some extra space by using fiberglass to conform the enclosure to the contour of the truck.

According to MTX they need 1.25 cubic ft per sub sealed and 2 cubic feet vented. Most pre-fab boxes will work for those subs.
