Your Inverter board is probably bad. It is inside the LCD unit.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response

SOURCE: MY BLUE BUTTONS DON'T WORK

Maybe a crumb under the Fn key. Give it a stab and see. Otherwise go to start-control panel-monitor-adjust brightness. Hope this helps.

How to reduce brightness of dell vostro 1015

Saddam Al-Nasser wants more answers to this question

dell vostro 1015
NO OS stated, at all. by OP or Hyjackers.
the dell site has xp vista and w7 driver only for this old PC
if the device manager shows, keyboard drivers missing then try the one below marked,
Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices 07 Jul 2012

below covers both types of personal computers.

http://www.pcdied.com/sleep-or-dim.html

and you cant find the 2 key below>?
https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/vostro-1015/manuals

oops dell lost the users manual after 9 long years, sadly
see the 2 keys below, blue, sun Icons
you push Fn blue key left side of keyboard
then push SUN key down. lower red arrow below.
if this fails to lower the backlamps
that means the drivers are missing. xp,.vista,w7 are all dell supports. (NO OS stated by OP nor hyjackers. as is par here)
Fn+down-arrow : key. if dead driver is wrong.!!!

My fn key and home for making screen light bright isnt working can any one tell me is there any other way to make my screen light high???please help its so dark

You should try to determine why your Fn keys are not working... just to make certain, the Fn+Home key will increase brightness and Fn+End will decrease.

You can try the blue IBM-Access Key. In the Configure tab, you can manage the display settings.

If you cannot see your display because it is too dark, try attaching an external monitor via the vga connector.

Well I don't know exactly why it is messing up, but here is a possible solution. I know that the link below doesn't pertain to your computer, but follow the instructions in the forum link:

Here are the drivers directly from invidia for your card. Use these in the formula from the above post:

Bright Adjust!

check the version of driver you have for the geforce graphics card. it is likely the generic microsoft driver. you need to update that by obtaining the correct and most current driver from the NVIDIA site
