Will not work with my manual transmission. Intermittently, but I am not doing anything different.
Not 100 percent sure, but sounds like the neutral switch connection is not working properly. Python can and is used on lots of standard vehichles, but they tie into the nuetral switch on the transmission. If this switch or the wires are corroded or loose, this is the problem that usually shoes up. Hope this helps

Depending on the number of output channels - the installer could have installed on any of the channels and that would dictate which buttons to press.

First off, is it in neutral? It can't engage the starter motor if it's in gear. Secondly, If it was professionally installed, why not just take it back and demand that they fix it?
Your wiring should somewhat match this.
