  1. if you go to hardware and sound n control panel, under sound, click manage audio devices, click the recording tab, if your mic isn't showing, right click and and press show disabled devices, the mic should show, right click it and press enable. or
  2. i think you should probably uninstall and reinstall your sound drivers thatll fix it also. hope this helps.

I can't find where my microphone goes

Is your computer a laptop or a desktop? How old is it? Which make/model of computer do you have?

For an older desktop, the microphone input will be on the back of the computer. There are usually three 3.5 mm jacks for audio connections. The pink connector is for the microphone. The black connector is for Line In and the green is line out (speakers). Often they are towards the far side of the motherboard connections from any PS2 (keyboard and mouse) ports. Otherwise, they will line up with one of the card slots.

Newer desktop computers often have additional audio ports for surround sound. However, the pink jack for the microphone is standard. If the computer has front audio ports, you may find that the same color labels the jacks. Otherwise look closely at the icons next to the ports. These will be in addition to the back audio ports.

Laptops can have the audio ports on the front, back or side depending on the model. There will be a small icon with a stand microphone indicated for the microphone port.

If you have one of the newer USB microphones, plug it into an available USB port.

If the computer has no working audio ports, either get a USB microphone or add a sound card.

I hope this helps. If you add a comment with your computer's brand and model number, I'll try to provide the exact audio port details. (There are some computer motherboards that do not have on-board audio and you will need a sound card.)

Cindy Wells
(on Windows computers, you may have to change the default audio input. Click Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Manage Audio Devices. (for Windows 7) For other versions of Windows, you may find slightly different titles in the Control Panel.)

How to install add/remove icon

Assumption you are using XP Operating System(OS).
You cannot install "add/Remove" icon to your system, because it is part of the OS.
For some reasons the add/remove programs option (appwiz.cpl) is corrupted has `gone missing` from the control panel? Your PC might be infected with Malwares or "Nasty Root-Kits".

Resolution
1. Download "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free version", install update and do a full scan and remove any of those "nasty files".
2. Download "SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition", install update and do a full scan and remove any of those "nasty files".
3. Do a virus scan too!

After the clean up, reboot your PC and see whether your 'Add/Remove' is there.

If you still can't see the "Add/Remove" icon,
then download the Registry file "28. Control Panel Icons are Missing" - download the registry file and add to your registry @ kellys-korner-xp.com.

Hope it helps.

Microphone not working

Hello.
1. Audio settings all versions

Skype:
Skype-->Main window…..>Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)
You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard (AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

2)Check if your micro (pink) and speaker (lime) jacks are really correct and fully inserted!
They sometimes stuck.
For test only you can use earphone instead of microphone for Line In.
Standard micro in Line In will NOT work.
Go to:
Start
Programs
Accessories
Entertainment or go to
Volume Control; right click on loudspeaker icon in Task Tray
Options
Microphone
Scroll down
Check "Microphone"
If the bar "Microphone" is available, the microphone is detected by Windows now go on
(If not, Windows has a problem with your microphone)
Just to check if your microphone is broken or bad, you can use your headphones instead. They really work!
Which one L or R is microphone now, I think it's L
Check "Advanced properties"

Check Micro "Advanced"
Open
Check "20db boost" or "1.MIC boost" depending on language version
Volume level can be left in any position.
Mute microphone!!!

3. Check audio now on windows base.
Start
Programs
Accessories
Entertainment
Soundrecorder

4. Once done, test with Skype Test Call echo123.
Good Luck

Please Vote.

Microphone does not work in call of duty world at war multiplayer

Double Click on the sound icon on the extreme bottom right corner of taskbar, click Properties on the Options menu, select Recording, and from the available list, please not that Microphone is checked, if not check it, and then click Ok, and now on the Recording Control, select (check) Microphone, you can tune the volume upward to increase the mic volume level. And then close, if this doesn't solve, again follow the same steps and on the Recording Control at the bottom of the Microphone, click Advanced, Check 1 Mic Boost. This will solve your problem if it's only with the settings. Good luck

Cannot hear my voice in the skype test skype is set up on the ubuntu operating system

Firstly, what version of Ubuntu and Skype are you using? Also what machine.

There are three areas where the issue could be - within Skype's settings, withing Ubuntu's settings or with the microphone/soundcard.

I'll cover some quick attempts at solving, assuming it's the first two.

OK, first make sure Ubuntu's settings are correct. If you can access the sound settings (generally there is a Speaker icon in the top right). Right click, 'open volume control'. Often you need the 'boost' level as well as the usual microphone - if you have 'Front Mic', sometimes you need 'Front Mic Boost too', likewise if you have 'Microphone', you might need 'Microphone Boost'. In the Volume Control, click preference to add the 'boost' level.

If that didn't work it might be your Skype settings. In Skype options, 'sound devices' try changing the 'sound in'.

If those didn't work it might be hardware (or another trickier software issue) - try testing your microphone on something else.

No Avery Wizard Icon

In your Word if Avery add-on is installed correctly you should see Avery option in your View/Toolbars. and you have to activate it to see on your toolbar
If missed you have to reinstall the add-on: be sure to use the version for your specific MSOffice version.

Configuration progress

If the "Configuration Progress box" is coming up every time you run and Office 2007 product, Click on "Start" -> "Control panel "->"Add or Remove Programs ". Check to see if you Still have a previous version of the Microsoft product installed. For example, "Microsoft Word " from "Microsoft Office 2007" takes 2 to 3 minutes to load because the "Configuration Progress box" comes up, checking the "Add or Remove Programs", showed "Microsoft Office 2003 " was still installed. After remove "Microsoft Office 2003", "Microsoft Word 2007" opened quickly without the configuration bar.
