Question about Pasquini Livia 90 Espresso Machine

Open Question

Soft residue in filter basket after brewing

The coffee residue in filter basket after brewing is now mushy instead of a puck as it once was. The machine works fine otherwise. It is 11 years old. Why and what do you recommend?

SOURCE: Hello, My Pasquini espresso machine has stopped

Hi
I would suspect that your 3 way valve is stuck. There is a copper line that goes from the top of the brew head to the right side of the machine to the 3 way valve. That 3 way valve may have to be replaced.

Why are my coffee pucks (dregs) coming out unformed and very wet

Bad grind, worn burrs in grinder (so a mixture of coffee particle sizes); not enough ground coffee for the size of filter basket.

- Adjust grinder so your brew time is in the 20-25seconds window, then take it from there.

How do I stop the oily residue in my brewd cup of coffee? The coffee maker is new. The residue is not from our filtered water.

Thoroughly wash the pot and the basket with a good oil/grease remover (detergent) such as DAWN dishwashing liquid.

Then run White Vineger/Water (50/50) mix through the coffee maker TWICE, with the basket and pot in place. (NO coffee, nothing in the basket)

DO NOT RUN any detergent or soap through the coffeemaker at any time.

Then, run straight water through the coffee maker TWICE (no coffee, basket empty)

Then wash the pot and basket out AGAIN with a good detergent.

This will remove any residue that is in the coffeeemaker from the factory.

As coffee brews, there IS a slight amount of oil that is produced. The coffee itself has oils in it, and is part of its flavor, and freshly brewed coffee will have a slight oil residue.

While the coffee is brewing without using the grinder feature, coffee overflows onto the counter. About 1/2 of the coffee goes into the pot while the rest spills over. I have cleaned residue from the lid...

overflow problem possible causes: 1) water is over the "10" marker, 2) no filter in basket 3) too much (or too fine) of coffee in the basket -- does not drain. Also make sure the "spring" on the bottom of the basket is not stuck (the one that lets you remove coffee carafe without dripping coffee.

Very little coffee is coming out of my filter

Hi
If you are using the basket with the black ring in the bottom, it is probably getting plugged up with coffee residue. If this is the case, try using a pinch of automatic dishwasher detergent in the basket with no coffee. and brew like normal, but stop it when it starts to come out the spouts. Let it set for a couple of minutes and then repeat the process. Do this about 5 or 6 times then brew like normal and see if it doesn't clear. If it does, rinse the basket and brew 4 or 5 blank shots (no coffee). Then try to make a coffee. If it doesn't work the you might have to buy a new basket.

Coffee Machine Brewing Water

Try an experiment - brew a test cup, but use only a small amount of grounds in the brew basket (use a paper filter) [or else, put the grounds in the gold tone filter basket]. See if the machine makes coffee (albeit weak coffee). If it does not make coffee, see if the water is draining properly from the brew basket, or if it is leaking over the sides of the brew basket. Also, make sure the lid to the brew basket is completely open and in the correct position.

If you still get water only in the caraffe, replace the brew basket. The part costs about $11.95 with shipping - or even call Cuisinart to see if your 3-year warranty will cover the issue.

Cuisinart grind and brew--water does not come down

If the water is not coming out of the filter basket, and is instead leaking over the edges, then replace the brew basket.

If there is no water at all, call Cuisinart - those coffee makers have a 3-year warranty.

How do I make coffee with a Grindmaster Pourover Coffee maker?

COFFEE PREPARATION PROCEDURES
1) Place filter into brew basket.
2) Put the proper amount of coffee into the filter.
3) Slide the brew basket into holder.
4) Place empty decanter on warmer located directly under the brew basket and turn corresponding warmer switch ON.
5) Pour decanter of fresh water through pour-in opening at top of brewer.
6) Hot water will be delivered through the sprayhead. This distributes the hot water evenly over the coffee bed within the brew basket. The coffee will drain from brew basket into the container below.

Coffee brews cloudy

If the coffee grains are too fine, it will flow through the permanent filter. Use the paper filter instead. Also, make sure the lid is on the caraffe tight, or the filter basket will back up.

Have the Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffee maker. When you begin to brew coffee it brews some of it but leaves the whole filter top full with coffee and coffee grounds. Called then customer service line and...

It sounds like you were using the gold permanent coffee filter in addition to a paper filter. You should use one or the other.

The gold permanent filter must be cleaned between each brewing cycle.

Try this:

1. Remove the filter basket from the coffee machine.

2. Remove the gold permanent coffee filter from the basket.

3. Clean the basket thoroughly. Ensure there are no grounds clogging any holes.

4. Insert a new paper filter only into the basket. Do not use the gold permanent filter for this test.

5. Fill the water reservoir with the desired amount of water.

6. Add the desired amout of coffee grounds into the paper coffee filter.

7. Replace the filter basket into its holder in the coffee machine, and close the water reservoir lid. Press firmly on top where it says, "Press to Close".

8. Ensure the glass carafe is placed correctly in its position on the heating plate.

9. Turn the Function Knob to "BREW", then flip the Power Swich to "ON"

Hope that helps.
