SOURCE: Failed A8V-VM SE Bios update attempt.

Hi,
First of all, always update your bios or motherboard drivers from the manufacturers support website or you could damage the computer.
Ok, Go here to Asus support, choose your operating system (Vista or XP), select only the latest bios >>>>>>>

http://support.asus.com/download/download_item_dna.aspx?product=1&model=A8V-VM%20SE&SLanguage=en-us

The BIOS update is in the format of a .exe file (executable file), all you have to do is double click on the file and follow the on-screen instauctions.

Good luck.

Click here http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Enter your model number in the top left and select BIOS from the category dropdown. Then just follow the instructions.

You should only update the BIOS is you have an issue with your system. If you have no problems with your system then you shouldn't update the BIOS (it follows the 'if it aint broke dont fix it' line...).

How can i make bios k8n-vm.rom to motherboard because i cant read from flopy this file , thank you

anaging and updating your BIOS
The following utilities allow you to manage and update the motherboard
Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) setup.
1.
ASUS EZ Flash
(Updates the BIOS using a floppy disk during POST.)
2.
ASUS AFUDOS
(Updates the BIOS in DOS mode using a bootable floppy
disk.)
3.
ASUS CrashFree BIOS 2
(Updates the BIOS using a bootable floppy
disk or the motherboard support CD when the BIOS file fails or gets
corrupted.)
4.
ASUS Update
(Updates the BIOS in Windows
®
environment.)
Refer to the corresponding sections for details on these utilities.

prepare the motherboard support CD or the floppy disk containing the updated motherboard BIOS before using this utility.
• Make sure that you rename the original or updated BIOS file in the
floppy disk to K8NVM.ROM.

Recovering the BIOS from the support CD
To recover the BIOS from the support CD:
1. Remove any floppy disk from the floppy disk drive, then turn on the
system.
2. Insert the support CD to the optical drive.
3. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks
the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file.
4. Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.
DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS! Doing
so can cause system boot failure!

try to find updated drivers from ASUS and see if you also can find a BIOS update. Most times the BIOS update will solve most known issues. OPreferably do it via old-fashioned diskdrive, that is still the most reliable.
