Reset the cmos (bios) by taking out the lithium battery (obviously disconnect from power first) and leave it for 10 minuets. You will need to reconfigure the settings in your bios afterward. If you still have the problem you will have to look to hardware problems, which could be various ones.

There should be settings in your bios that change how your cpu throttles speed. In Windows you can download 3rd party applications to control the speed of your cpu.

hi there !
depending on the windows installed:
for windows xp
-press the power button; as soon as the computer turns on, immediately press and hold "CTRL" key then press "F11" then the restore window will appear
for windows vista
-press the power button; as soon as the computer turns on ; keep on tapping the "F8" key
-select repair my computer then let it load
-just select next on the keyboard layout screen
-enter you username and password on the next screen
-the select Dell Factory Image restore
NOTE: if the hard drive has been formatted using the CD you may not be able to perform the above procedure ; the same is true if hard drive on the computer has been replaced.

Try using the F11 which is the command for the recovery partition usually. But if that fails . Try the esc button. Both the buttons should be tapped continuously as soon as you push the power button . If all fails please use the recovery cds.
