Which is smaller, gigabytes or megabytes

megabits is smaller
if you want to back up 2.83 gb get a usb flash drive
get a 5gb unit
usb sticks (flash drive) rated at 5 gb will hold 4.5 gb of data as the rating is the total capacity but all flash drives require a small amount of space to work so the actual amount of data capacity is always less than the stated size on the flash drive
the capacity rating is-- smallest to largest --bytes, mega bytes , gigabytes, and terabytes

Here's my problem , my flash drive went from a 64 gigabytes to a downgrade of 32 gigabytes. So I'm baffled and P.O.ed! So what am I to do?

Back it up as soon as possible.

Do you have your receipt for your flash drive?

I found out fairly recently that flash drives and (Micro)SD cards are being counterfeited. The play with something in the drive and it appears to be a certain size, when in fact it is actually much smaller and doesn't have the characteristics that you paid for. I found this out when I bought a MicroSD for my brother for Christmas. It was a fake. I bought it from a reputable store and my brother took it back and was able to exchange it for a real one. The clerk at the store said that they had "a few" returns of fake drives/cards.

There are some free programs available on the Internet to help you detect whether the drive is real or fake. Some of the programs, however, operate by writing to the drive/card and then reading it back. They can take a long time and some may write over what you currently have on your drive/card.

Good luck.

My octigen 3.5" slim drive is rated 75 gigabytes but only 4 are available for backup

Depending on your operating system. Start -> control panel->administrative tools->disk management. When the drive shows itself right click on the partition, select delete partition. Then right click on the drive and select simple partition. The OS will then format the drive.

Convert lba to cyl, head, sector

The problem with CYL/HEAD/SECTORS is that disk-drives have gotten *MUCH* too large -- the limited size of each field mean that a new scheme, namely LBA (Logical Block Addressing) had to be created to deal with disk-drives that are 1000 times too large (4 Terabytes versus old 4 Gigabytes).

So, if you have 312,500,000 sectors,
and each sector is 0.5 Kilobytes,
you have 156,250,000 Kbytes,
or 156,250 Mbytes,
or 156 Gigabytes.

I have 2 JL Audio 8W0's rated at 75 RMS. I had a MTX 280 Amp pushing them but need to replace it, what brand and size amp do you recommend for these speakers.

  • This Kicker Amp will compliment them JL Audios like nothing else. KICKER ZX Series ZX350.4 4 channels all rated @ 75 watts RMS. If it was me that would be my choice for a replacement amp.

It says that I only have 106 gigabytes available when I should have at least 200 gigabytes available

Then its probably just some hidden files that you cannot see. You might need to back it up on somthing. Then ormat your hard drive, but Idon't reccommend that. Hope this helps!?

Please rate solution - Thanks.

My drive is full so it won't back up anymore!

Check the backup settings in the software that came with the device. You may be saving every backup instead of saving incrementally. An incremental backup will back up the files that have changed after doing one full backup.
You can also view the files on the drive through Windows Explorer.
The files should be dated. Delete the oldest files making sure that they seem to be the same size as the next oldest file.
If your computer is not faulty, and the files on the backup are not the only place that they are copied, you can start over with the backup drive, change the backup settings and create an incremental backup routine.
Depending on the size in Gigabytes of the backup drive, you are limited to the amount of data you can back up.
Example:
If you have a 500Gigabyte drive in your computer and the external backup drive is 250 Gigabytes,a full system backup will not fit.
Go to Windows Explorer, Click on My Computer and view the available space and total size for each drive.

If you need more help, Use Fixya's new Phone Call Service. For $29.99 an expert will walk you through the setup and drive check.

PS2 HDD Partition Error

Hi,
A Partition error is the amount of segments that the hard-drive is split into.
For example we have 1 hard-drive Named C:/ Which Is 20 gigabytes. Then we decide that we want to use A Quarter of that drive, solely for saving games On. So 5 gigabytes Will Now Be allocated For Game-saves, This Will be known as Partition 2 Or D:/ So we now have 2 Partitions 1 is C:/ And 1 Is D:/ Partition C:/ is Currently 15 Gigabytes, And Partition D:/ is 5 Gigabytes.
Making a total Of 20 Gigabytes. So if your getting a partition error, it,s either because the game your attempting to transfer Is larger than the Partition, thats trying to receive it. You may be sending 4 gig to a 3.5 gig partition. Or your attempting to send it to a partition that is incorrect or inadequately lettered/numbered.
I hope this enables you to understand, the basics of Partitions on drives.
