Sounds like a Main Board problem.

I noticed that the power cord was loose on the back of the unit. I removed it, and plugged it as snug as it would fit. It seems ok now.

LG 37LC7D 37 in. HDTV LCD TV My screen seem to over heat, Goes blank, but TV is still on. then comes back on for a few seconds, then again blacks out

It sounds like a problem in the high voltage circuit. Had a similar TV set which had the same problem. When there's power leaking from the high voltage circuit, these TV's will tend to cycle on and off. Voltage leaks are mostly caused by accumulated dust for the most part.

Hello sir, hi, most likely your TV power supply board has bad components already. You need a replacement PS board.

LG 37LC7D 37-inch 720p LCD HDTV

Unplug it for about an hour to let it reset itself and try again, if it still has problem then you will have to open it up or take it to the repair shop. The power supply module will have to be looked at first to make sure all the voltages are present. Right now the 5vdc standby power supply is working and may be partially function processor.

37'' LG lcd tv, no power

I just want to clear things here.
The stand by light will remain on whenever the tv set is turned on by a button on the side of the tv.

Then use your remote to turn on the tv, but wait as it can take 10secs before you get a picture.

I have a lg 37lc7d will shut its self off

When it shuts off does the power light stay on like the unit is still on?If yes,try shining a bright flashlight at the screen and see if you can see any video. If you can your power and main boards are would then probably need an inverter board or panel. If it is shutting completely off you need a main total assembly since you have already replaced the power supply. The main total assembly is avery common issue on lg lcd tv's.

I could do with a digital photo to be sure, however it sounds like the LCD panel itself has failed.

37 inch LG LCD won't turn on due to power failure

Power failures can cause all types of problems, have you firstly checked the fuse in the mains plug? If that is ok then it may have blown an internal fuse in the power supply board, these are there to protect the rest of the circuit from power surges.
