Hi the OS Drive is the one your "Operating System" is installed on
In most cases it's the C:\ drive.
Operating system is another term for Windows.

My new seagate go flex hard drive is being read by mac but I cannot do any modification, which includes data transfer!!

Most likely the hard drive is formated as NTFS and you will need to download a 3rd party app in order to write to an NTFS file system in Mac OS X, such as Tuxera NTFS or NTFS For Mac OS X

How can i remove my other operating system.

you have DUAL BOOTING i guess,

You need to uninstall it or you can format the drive where the O.S. is located that you don't want anymore.

to uninstall:
- Log-in to the O.S. that you want to kept then uninstall it form ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
-then locate the drive if you still find the folder of that particular O.S. that you uninstall, delete it.

to format:
- if your first O.S. is in drive C and the 2nd O.S. is in drive D and you want to remove the second O.S., simply format the drive.
- suppose you're already log-on to your first O.S. click MY COMPUTER, you will see the DRIVES (C and D or other drives), right click the drive then select format.

note: doing this procedure will erase the files located on drive D, so if there is no important files store on this drive, I recommend this procedure.

Sir, Good day! How to reformat my hardrive toshiba dynabook without dvd drive

You'll need to remove your hard drive, hook it up to another computer via a USB to Hard Drive adapter and use the operating system of the other computer to reformat the hard drive. This will only reformat the hard drive, not install a new OS. To install a new OS you'll need a DVD-ROM and OS installation disc, or a flash drive with an OS installer on it to install from the flash drive.

Hi my dell inspiron 1525 recovery drive is c drive and os drive is d drive , now i cant download anything ,messenger, antivirus or put pics on,are the drives the wrong way round, cos i just installed...

Seems like you have installed the OS on the wrong drive (OS has been installed on the 10 GB drive erroneously). By default, Windows would name the drive with OS as the C drive. Thus, the confusion.
What you need to do now, is to reinstall the OS once again, and this time ensure that the OS is installed on the bigger drive (It's named OS by default, should be around 160-200 GB depending on your drive size). Also, do not forget to Erase the disk before continuing with the installation. Please note that this method would destroy all data from your computer, so make sure you have a backup of all your important files and data.

Revert with the outcome.

Good Luck!

First: Boot from the Mac OS X CD that came with your computer, or any other OS X CD (Put the CD in, then reboot while holding the "C" key), select your language

Second: You should re-format your drives. Go to the Utilities menu, select "Disk Utiliy", select the 1st drive in the left pane, click on the "Erase" tab, select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" in the Volume Format pop-up, then give your new drive a name and click "Erase". THIS WILL ERASE YOUR DRIVE!

Do the same thing with your backup drive.

Third: quit the application by going to the "Disk Utility" menu adn select "Quit".

Proceed with the installer and select the drive you want to boot on when it asks you... this will install OS X on the drive you selected...

For the backup, if you have OS X 10.5 Leopard, when you boot for the first time, the system should ask you if you want to use the other disk as a backup drive, just click yes. thanks
