Question about HP Pavilion a600n PC Desktop

Will Windows 7 install on my HP Pavilion?

I have an HP Pavilion a600n desktop with Windows XP 32 bit. I did a search on Impact PC parts for graphics cards since this pc has onboard graphics. There are two listed: 5187-3705 DF200-69001 Will either of these graphics cards support the Windows Aero technology for Windows 7? And if not, can I still use Windows 7 without the aero technology?

To install Windows 7 on your hp you need a windows 7 DVD and driver packs for particular onboard graphics card listed here http://drp.su/download.htm should work as long as you install the right drivers

SOURCE: Changing Vista to XP Pro on a Compaq Presario SR2180NX Desktop PC

SR2180NX has the Vista 32Bit OS from HP. The restore partition will always put Vista 32Bit back on if you use it. Windows XP can only be put on from scratch and I have done it while I still have Vista installed. One problem: there are no XP drivers under SR2180NX webpages. Do your research on the parts that are installed in the 2180 and any other HP machines that have the Windows XP operating system as the OEM OS. But First, check the Intel Site for the 945 chipset drivers (include the SouthBridge, too) under XP. Get them downloaded to a CD and burn the rest of the drivers you find for XP on the same CD. This way, you will have them ready when you are performing the down-grade to windows xp. After you are done with the XP install, you will still have access to the files & work you had done while in Vista. The Vista files are still readable. You might want to consider getting the Windows 7 Professional (not basic) available October 22, 2009. AND you will still have to get the Intel Downloads for Win7 any way, so why not make it a project and make it last for a few years. XP Support stops in 2014.

SOURCE: HP Pavilion a705w PC Desktop\Ethernet Controller driver

obtain the driver from cd/dvd that was included as you purchased your desktop and try to check if the driver supports with the operating system you are using now. for example the driver available in your cd/dvd is only for windows xp and your operating system you are using now is windows vista of course driver not installed. try to download from internet the driver that are suite to your unit model and current operating system this can fixed your problem or else downgrade your os tha can support the driver that are available from your cd/dvd.

SOURCE: Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit and No Internet

It sounds to me like you need a new driver for the LAN adapter that is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit. Right click on Computer under the start menu, chose manage, and open the Device Manager applet. Look for your network card under Network adapters. Right click on your adapter and click on properties. Go to the driver tab and click on update driver. You can also try uninstalling the driver from there and then have the computer scan of new hardware from the device manager screen and let Windows reinstall the driver. Let me know what you find so I can help you further troubleshoot if this does not fix the problem.

Can this model be upgraded from xp 32 bit to windows 7 64 bit with 2.5 gb of memory?

Yes you can however HP only supports Windows XP (32-Bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 Bit) No official support for windows 7.

However Most modern PC's will run windows 7 and most drivers are available. Upgrade at your own risk.... There might be some drivers that you wont find and may cause problems with your PC.

But why upgrade to 64bit if you are not upgrading memory to 4GB+?

See Windows 7 system requirements Microsoft Windows

well technically speaking if you have the windows XP installation cd then you should have another cd called Driver Software! if not then go to
http://www.driverskit.com/ and that will allow you to download the needed drivers... however i would recommend before installing windows XP that you download the drivers first and put them on a flash drive or Cd-R or DVD-R first then commence with the installation of windows XP

I have hp pavilion dv6 laptop windows xp drivers

I have the solution! Read this thread and install this version of XP 32-bit. I am currently running this version of Windows XP Pro 32-bit on my HP Pavilion dv6-1030us. IT WORKS!!! I promise. After you install that version of Windows XP 32-bit than follow the second link here. Good Luck.
Step 1) Download this OS here: http://www.mininova.org/tor/2863191
Step 2) Burn the ISO using your favorite ISO burner. (I use ImgBurn)
Step 3) Do a complete fresh install.
Step 4) Install these drivers: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/psg/board/message?board.id=OS&thread.id=9700&view=by_date_ascending&page=6
Step 4) The drivers on that page are post by Daniel, so please give him kudos for hunting down the entire driver list.
Step 5) Reboot and ENJOY!
