Whats the best cleaner to use on the outside of this model?

My Favorite is SIMPLE GREEN - it's got the "ooooh-ahhh" fresh smell to it -- You would not need full strength Simple Green for cleaning or to get the desired oooh-aaah out of it... and as Andy mentioned it is non-toxic and an all natural cleaner

The original Simple Green, as in a dark green colored liquid (even in a spray bottle) is typically full strength -- You can easily cut it with 10x water to get to the "mean green" brand (which is Simple Green cut 10x) and either works just fine.

PS: Don't be bashful with the water,. definitely try small scrub brush for stubborn dirt, goop, etc.,. do a nice damp and/ or a dry towel dry -- and if really blasting with water,. let the dry out overnight if necessary.. prior to plugging it back in...

If necessary, you could concoct a cleaning rod out of a coat hangar by tying some pieces of rag on it and running it through the pipes.. just make sure your knots are tight so the cloth doesn't come off in the pipes and or hoses (or perhaps even a garden hose for the pipes if they come off or are otherwise accessible for that. And/ or alternatively use a small scrub brush around the edging of the unit to get any crevasses on the outside of the unit,. etc.,.

Don't forget the once over on the beater brushes also! :))

So now Crystal -- being the curious sort I am,. How did I get the request to answer this one?? -- Yes I added you (with your cute pic) to my connections... ;))

Best Regards
Ck

Hello this vacuum cleaner has great suction through the hose but not in the main part, it will not pick up i have cheked to see if it is blocked but does not appear to be. any ideas?

If it sucks through the hose it must have a blockage in the pipe or at the head. Remove head and check for hairs and thread which often cause dust to collect there in a knot. Clean the brushes. You should be able to see daylight at the end of the pipe. Put your fingers in the part of the head that goes onto the pipe and feel for a blockage. Or push a thin wire through.

Tornado wide area commercial vacuum

Hi There,

Your Tornado Wide Area vacuum cleaner is actually manufacturered by Powr-Flite. The two companies are sister companies, and owned by the same parent company Tacony.

It sounds like to me that your belt may have broken, or fallen off of the motor shaft. This may explain why the roller brush is not spinning. There is also a reset switch on the machine, on the top (item # 41 in diagram below), you should check the reset switch first. Try pushing down on this switch to see if this will restart your brushes.

If it doesn't, here are instructions on how to open up the belt, and inspect it or replace it if it's broken:

If you need to purchase a new belt, you may contact Powr-Flite at 1-800-880-2913, and request them to send you part number 19802.

Here's links to the instruction manual, and parts diagram for your Tornado, which is the same exact machine as the Powr-Flite model PF2030:

If you have any follow up questions, please don't hesitate to ask using the add a comment form here on the Fixya repair page. If you have any problems ordering from them directly, feel free to contact us, and we'd also be able to provide any parts for you.

Sucks up hair and dust but it all collects on the brushes

It has a obstruction somewhere in the plastic pipe. You are going to have to get your hands dirty and tear it apart. Dont be affraid, its easier than it looks, just take it apart slowly and take pictures as you go. When you get the bott exposed you will need to stick a wire in there and dig out the obstruction. Good luck

Hoover f7452900 brushes wont turn?

make sure that you have it on the carpet setting and not the hardwood/tile setting. also if you used the hose, make sure that the little door is closed. if all checked... remove the recovery tank, there should be a rubber grament on the stand pipe under the tank, if it is there, then it would have to be the turbine assembly that drives the brushes

No suction

you still have a clog in there something is keeping the brushes from spinning. Be sure to remove any hair/string etc twisted around the brushes. Make sure the belt hasn't slipped off the metal pin behind the brushes, this is what creates the rotation. The brushes have a hard plastic molding on each end that fit into the sides of the vacuum. Make sure you have these on the right way or they will strip out and you have to replace the housing and the brushes. Have you cleared any blockages from the feed behind the brushes? Be sure to take the hose and extend it out and run a broom handle or something down it to be sure you do not have something lodged in there. Good luck .. if you need more detail post back. These can be rebuilt if needed, hopefully it is just something lodged further down the suction canal.

Brushes not working on vacuum

It would be much more helpful if you would leave the model number of your machine so that I can know exactly which model you have.

If your Panasonic is a canister model, and the rest of the machine works fine, just not the power head, the first thing you should check is the reset button on the powerhead. On the top of the power head there is an "Overload Reset" button. This is a protection feature that will automatically shut off the brushes if anything is vacuumed into the brushes, i.e. sock underneath of the bed, tassels on an oriental rug, etc. This will cut off the brushes to prevent any damage to the belt. With the machine turned on, and the hose switched to carpets, push this reset button down, and the brushes should come on.

If this doesn't fix the problem, and you have a canister model, you may need to replace the electrical hose at this point. You can easily test the hose's continuity, by purchasing a $15 electrical tester from Radio Shack. Simply put one end of the tester into the socket that plugs into the wand, and take the other end, and test the electrical prongs that go into the canister itself, you should be able to determine if your hose is bad by doing this.

If your model is an upright style, the repair is much easier. When the brushes don't spin on an upright, this just means that your belt has either broken, or fallen off. If you'd give me your model number, I can easily give you instructions with part numbers of the belt you'll need to buy. Please just send me an email with your model number, and I'll send you a blown up parts schematic to your vacuum by email.

Let me know if you have any other questions,

Poor pick up & suction

yes the flapping noise that you hear is the wire on the motor brushes that has protruded through the brush and touched the motor through wear and usually when this happens it destroys the motor and will need a replacement I have the same problem The motor is £42 and the brushes are £8 you also need a special long star screwdriver to access the motor this is a way of making you have it repaired at a dyson shop and pay about £70 labour a rip off or what? I can do the job in 20 mins so why the high price for labour
