SOURCE: Receiver won't let volume go higher than -7 dB

Actually, -7 db and above woul be quite load.

Anyway, I am not very familar with the Pioneer GUI auto setup. But, am aware of how AVR are set-up.

If you have set up the home theatre by auto/manual setup then please check the channel levels whether any of your channels settings is at +7.0db.

If so, reduce this setting where it more +7.0, then you would be able to raise the overall main setting from the volume control to go higher than -7db.( by as much as you've lowered the particular channel setting)

Please do let me know if this helps.

SOURCE: Pioneer Amp VSX-D409 Volume

I have a VSX D508 Looks just like the VSX D409. Had the same prob with the volume control when I bought it. I first tried the cleaner. Better than what it was but didn't compleatly solve the problem and before long it was getting worse again.
It does have a rotary encoder instead of the traditional varible restance volume control. I finally broke down and removed it from the board and lightly sanded the contacts with fine sandpaper.
This involves removing the whole face from the main board and chassis. Not that bad, a couple screws and some ribbon jumpers and latches and it's off.
Next carefully pull the volume control straight off the shaft, remove the nut under it and lay it face down on a soft surface. Remove the screws that hold the circuit board to the face and slowley seperate the too, you'll have to release some latches also to sepperate them.
If you replace the volume control with a new one or clean the old one you have to go this far because it's soldered to the front side of the board. Yes, it has to be de-soldered from the board.
This control was not designed to be dissassembled but I was able to carefully open it and remove the shaft to totaly expose the contacts for a complete even couple of passes with the sandpaper.
I did have to use some 5-minute opoxy when I put it back together because I couldnt get the metal tabs to close as tightly as they were before it was opened.
I soldered in the volume control, put it back together and it's worked perfectly ever since. I don't know how much pioneer wants for a new one but I can tell you they wanted $69 plus shipping for a new remote for my receiver. And with this style of volume control you might be at their mercy as far as finding one from another source that fits.

I have two I-Pads I play on. I touch the farm hereo icon , it goes to the game and when I push play it goes back to my homepage. I have been playing on both pads for a while

Two things possible here: Either you've got another app in background hogging available RAM or the App itself is faulty.

To check first option: Reboot your ipad and try the game first thing after that. If it works you had too little free ram for it to start.

If that doesn't fix the situation: Uninstall and reinstall the app. Push and hold the App-Icon until all icons start to wiggle. Your App-Icon now has a badge with an X in it. Klick that to remove the app. To stop this wiggle-mode press the home button once.

Then go to App-Store and re-install the app.

ISwifter Streams Flash Games to iPads

On September 25th , Apple just approved iSwifter (iTunes link), a free app that bypasses Apple's Flash embargo by simply streaming the games to your iPad, similar to what OnLive does with PC games. Games run on a central server and the iPad app basically works like a remote desktop client and relays the user's input back to the server.
Before you get too excited, it's important to note that the app currently only features a very limited set of games from Yahoo! Games, AOL Games.com, Facebook and Kongregate. The team plans to add more games over time, though, and announce more partnerships with other Flash-gaming portals, too.

The iSwifter app is kind of like a portal. You download it to your iPad and then it gives you access to a number of games stored on its servers. Those games are typically played with a mouse and keyboard on the web. But iSwifter has selected a number of games that will work with the iPad's touchscreen interface. ISwifter programming is designed wonderfully, you can hardly find games running on the ipad. Now iSwifter only support iPad, and can only be used by WiFi. After the Flash Games being transferred to iPad, you can also transfer the games from ipad to computer through a ipad to computer transfer software.

The service is a great way to get around walled gardens. If companies such as Apple allow the app, then the app can bring content that might otherwise not run - or be allowed to run - on the particular platform. By making their games available on iSwifter, game developers can avoid being locked out of certain platforms. And the developers do not have to adapt their games, change them from one format to another, just to expand their reach to new platforms. iSwifter is using cloud computing to stream various Flash portals, such as Kongregate, Yahoo! Games, and AOL Games, to your iDevice, unaltered.

"iSwifter represents a game-changer for smaller Flash game developers that don't have the resources to port their games to multiple mobile platforms like iOS and Android," says Net Jacobsson, a former Facebook executive, advisor to King.com, and founder & CEO of Playhopper, a Flash-based social gaming start-up.

If everything works out for streaming services like iSwifter, gamers could enter a sort of renaissance of free gaming options. I'm not exactly sure how the online services will work within things like, say, Yahoo! Games, but I would be pretty happy to play Yahoo! Pool in some of my downtime. Sure, Flash games can be silly, but there are a ton of them out there, and many of them are far better than some of the free offerings in the App Store.

By now, iSwifter is only available for the iPad and only works over WiFi networks. The company plans to add support for 3G networks soon and launch iPhone and Android apps in the near future.

How to restore sound on my iPad

Try to reset the phone. If it doesn't work, check all the sound settings and the sound button on side. If all of those don't work, try factory restore. If it still doesn't work, make reservation for Apple Store Guinness bar.

Can I browse the internet on an ipad mini??

Of course. You first must be connected to the Internet via wi-fi or cellular connection (not all iPads have cellular). Once you have set that up (which is one of the first things you do when you set up an iPad), the Safari browser (the icon with the compass) and many (most?) apps connect to the Internet. Although you can look things up through the browser, many services have separate apps to perform their function, e.g. Yelp, Facebook. Apps like Weather retrieve their information from the Internet without having to go to a specific site, and apps like Notes sync your notes on the Internet (and may be available on your computer, as a result).

In fact, a large proportion of your activities on the iPad can't take place without a connection to the Internet.

CaRC not working on my vsx823

With some of these elaborate setups, the receiver overrides your settings and connections to configure a default arrangement for certain functions. The rationale for this is often buried obscurely in the equipment instructions. You may have to resort to trial and error, connect and disconnect to get a satisfactory result.

Gmail will not work with ipad

If you can not get Gmail to work with mail on your iPad there are a couple alternative options.

You can open Safari and navigate to www.gmail.com and use the web interface. It's very useful and contains all the functionality of Gmail in the browser.

The second option would be to install the Gmail app which is available from the app store. This is the official Gmail app from Google.

I would also encourage you to keep trying to add gmail to the mail app by visiting "Settings" on the iPad and then selecting Mail, Contacts... and then adding the account from there. The option to add a Gmail account is listed their. If you continue to have problems please double check that your email address and password are indeed correct.

I just got a Pioneer SD-532HD5 and I thought it came with the original remote, apparently not. I have a Pioneer AXD-7430 remote and I cannot get it to work and menu type functions, only power channel and...

I would have thought a remote controller would have been included, tight shop!
The AX type won't work due to the wrong codes. A good quality "one for all" should do it.
Hope that helps.

it sounds like they've disconnected the battery on you and reset the unit.with the unit powered up (key on) If you turn off the radio by holding the source button then press and hold the function button (the round one that adjusts the volume) it takes a few seconds.......Note if you turn or move it up down or to either side it won't work. the menu will come up to change various settings including turning on the aux function.
Hope this helps!
