My eee pc boots up with only a blue screen and the tool bar!!
Over the past week, when I turn my eee pc on, it only displays a blue screen with the bottom toolbar. I can click on the icons on the toolbar, and provided my mouse arrow is still on the toolbar, it displays the thinking timer, but never completes. nor does the thinking icon appear if the arrow is off the toolbar. Only pressing Fn and F1 gives me any sort of response, which is only a pop up of workspace choices, and if i select any of these nothing really happens. please help!

re-install operating system press F9 whilst booting, every other boot goto disc scan clean up corrupted system then proceed to re-install OS highlight either options press "E" then "B" to boot then go through the first pages of a clean install. If this doesnt work youll have to install by disc, there are a few other OSystems available today .some are recommended, although i dont recommend them
Try rebooting, tap F8 to get into the multi-boot options. Scroll down and choose "Last Known Good Configuration" windows should boot up normally. If you have made any hardware changes or if windows perfromed a corrupt update, that will require some additional help.

i had the same problem, but the solution wont make you happy. you are going to have to reinstall windows. the EEE has a cool option. it has a separate partition on the hd to solve this problem. upon boot up press F9 (i believe look in your manual to make sure) it will take you to a screen with the option of formating your hd and reinstalling windows. i had no options and i lost all my notes for a class the week b4 finals week. i was sooooooo pissed. it happend all of the sudden for me, it asked me if i wanted to clean up my desktop i clicked on it and boom blue screen of death turned off and went to that screen that said i was missing a file to put in the boot up cd. w/e no need crying over spilled milk, i passed the class and now my EEE is running better than ever.
You could try uninstalling the Display Adapter driver from Device Manager while in Safe mode then see if you can reboot normally. The drivers may reinstall automatically and it might blue screen again. If prompted to install drivers when restarting you could cancel and attempt to find better drivers, but it may be a failing video adapter.
