Can i use linseed oil on my granite counters

you should not use linseed oil or any other oil on granite countertops unless the desired look is a darker stone. The oil may not penetrate depending on the color and density. Linseed oils are generally only for soapstone.

How to make my granite shine with inexpensive products

There is not really any product you can put on your granite to make it shine more. It should have a natural shine from the quarry. Some granites are "commercial grade" and have been poorly polished, only a professional would be able to polish it if this is the case.

If it has gotten duller over time, it is likely a residue that is causing the problem. (soap scum, water mineral deposits, etc) Try #0000 steel wool to take the residue off (rub hard) (test an inconspicuous area first) do a small spot first to see the results.

Try using super glue, the thinner the better the adhesion. Once it is dry hold a single edge razor blade (use extreme caution, razors by nature are very sharp) perpendicular to the surface of the stone and scrape the glue flush, changing blades regularly. Do not use the blade to cut, as it will dig in and pull glue and possibly stone out, as you have discovered. Just take your time and scrape the glue until it is flush with the granite. If the spots are dull, you can use a little carnuba wax (automotive/hardware store) to shine it up. Some types of granite have more texture due to differences in the makeup of the stone which also gives the variety of color. I have filled entire countertops with this method, and it is tedious, but yields good results.

New granite countertops big circle spots on.

They suggested a dryer because they thought the stone had absorbed a liquid and was causing the stone to darken. This is common on unsealed granite. If you put a sealer on the counter tops however, whatever it is you see there will remain under the seal. I would ask the installer to come out and take a look at it. If they are unwilling, the Home Depot has a cleaning kit sold in the kitchen counters area of the store made by a company you can call and they will ask questions about the problem and provide advice on how to fix it. They are extremely helpful with free suggestions as well as stuff you may be able to purchase to fix the problems. In any case, granite is sensitive stuff and while it is physically durable it seems to be extremely sensitive to stain and etching and learning about proper care, cleaning, and dos and dont's will save a lot of heart ache and time for you down the road. (For instance oil absorbing into the stone is a several day ordeal to fix). Good luck with getting the results you want. If you did find a specific solution please share it here.

Well you should seal your granite counter at least once every two years because granite is pourus. Theres something called Granite Guard you can use to seal your counters and other different sealers as well. You can pick some up at your local home and garden supply store.
