Opening A Toshiba equium

The one I used to have has a strip along the keyboard in between the LCD hinges & the keyboard. Pry it up from one side & it will reveal the base screws. I used to have the web page printed out that shows the entire breakdown, but I can't find it anymore.
Mine was overheating, cleaned all the dust out ... And it was FULL!

There has been a lot of talk around this computer lately about the same problem you are having. It has something to do with the plug that plugs into the mother board it self.

Removing faulty cd drive.

if you look right abovce the keyboard you will see a strip that needs to come off ok then you will see 3 screws and one of those screws holds the keyboard in that needs to come off
also after you lift the keyboard from the slot it is in then you will see the cd rom there syhould be a screw on the back of the laptop that is holding the cd rom in place ok just remove the screw and slide out the cdrom ok and just put in the new cd rom and put the screw that holds it in and then replace the keyboard and the screws for that and then replace the strip and you are finished now just power it up and it should recognize the cd rom ok i hope that this is a fixya for you best regards mike
