Tip on how to clean sunglasses

Normal glass or plastic lenses, a quick dunk in warm water usually is enough. Or you can add a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent to get the tough grease. If warm water isn't readily available, a quick spray with a commercial window cleaner also can be used. But be careful if you have an anti-reflection coating on your lenses which is common on glasses that have been prescribed for night driving. These coated surfaces have been specially treated and certain liquids or detergents will often make matters worse by creating smudges on the lens. In these cases you should use an optical spray. The optical spray doesn't have to be specifically designed for sunglasses as any optical spray will work just fine including those designed for cameras..

The surface of the nose pads are generally quite resistant to dirt and natural facial oils as they are usually made from a resistant type of plastic or acetate. However dirt can easily get wedged between the nose pads and their frame mounts. If this should happen just soak them for a couple of hours in warm water to loosen the residue. Then it's a simple task to gently brush away the unwanted dirt with an old soft bristle brush or old toothbrush.
Plastic frames, on the other hand, can form a greenish hue over time due to acidic reactions with the skin's natural oils. It is best to avoid the frame touching the face at all. If you properly adjust the nose pads inward to raise the glasses away from your face you can avoid this calamity. Once the frame has been damaged from the facial oils, it is almost impossible to remove the green coloration. Be sure to routinely tighten the screws of the frame.
By routinely inspecting your glasses and doing preventive maintenance, including regular rinsings in warm water with gentle drying, you can prevent dirt build up in the first place. Then you can enjoy your sunglasses more many years of service.

Although the clamp holding the glass is tightened as tightly as it can be, the glass slips down. Any solution?

If you add a few little rubber pads (like those eyeglass nose pieces) between the metal and glass, it will solve your problem.

Rubber nose piece has split - barely hanging on

Hi.

The part (or the glasses) must be replaced. Cheap repair done with superglue is not a good solution. Please contact Nike customer support using the link below:

Hello, I have Just Cavalli JC225 glasses. They were too tight and the arms were widened, to stop the glasses being pushed forward. Now they rest too heavily on my nose, causing red marks and...

There are a couple of things that can be done to fix this problem. One of the easiest solutions is to have the nose pads replaced with larger and/or softer nose pads. Alternatively, a saddle shaped nose pad can be helpful in distributing the weight across your nose. Most local optometrists should have nose pads available that they can change out for you.
Furthermore, if the nose pads are set at a bad angle they can dig into your nose also. Adding some curl to the end of the arms can bring the glasses closer to the face if they are sitting too low. If you are careful you can attempt some of these adjustments yourself.

Microwave is scratched

You will need the following:
Polishing compound, jeweler's rouge or whitening toothpaste
Electric buffer
Lamb's wool buffing pad
2 ounces of ammonia
2 quarts of water
Rubber gloves
Safety goggles
Lint-free paper towels or cloth

Step 1:
Apply polishing or jeweler's rouge to a lambs wool buffing pad. You can either buff the scratch by hand using a circular motion or with an electric buffer on medium speed.

Step 2:
Wash the polishing compound, jeweler's rouge or whitening toothpaste off from time to time in order to check on the progress of the scratch removal.

Step 3:
Mix two ounces of ammonia with two quarts of water. You may want to be sure to hold your nose closed during this process! Also, always wear rubber gloves and safety goggles when working with ammonia.

Step 4:
Clean the glass surface with the ammonia water with a clean soft sponge.

Step 5:
Dry the glass with a lint free towel. If the scratches are not completely gone, they should at least be less apparent. If there is no significant difference, consider contacting a glass company to replace or rebuff the glass.
