My KD-8 bass drum pad will now only trigger if it is hit really hard- I've tried altering the sensitivity at the brain to no avail any ideas please ? Thanks

SOME of these have a small potentiometer inside the pad part... The pot is VERY fragile and one needs a small jewler's screwdriver to adjust. You have to be careful as excess pressure on the screwdriver breaks the part off the circuit board inside. The access hole is only about 1/8 inch diameter.

Hey, I have had used the Roland PD8's for a while but recently 2 of mine have just stopped working. Maybe I hit them too hard but I'm not sure because the rest of my pads work. One will work if I hit it...

Check the connections on the undersides of the pads--they sometimes get loose as the vibrations rattle them around. Tighten the nuts that hold the pads inputs in place and reinsert the cables until they sort of "click." If that doesn't work, it might be the cables themselves, so try switching them with one you know is currently working. It'll change which sound is triggered where, but you'll know it's just the cables that need to be replaced, not the pads.

The cable assigned to my roland TD 4 mesh snare is not registering. I thought it a cable problem so a replacement was shipped however still the same prblem. I have ensured the settings are right so I'm...

You may have a bad solder joint where the jack for the snare trigger input is soldered to the circuit board. You will have to open the case and have a look. Make a note of how many screws and where they go etc. If you have a digital camera, take pictures as you go. We have a TD3 and it has two circuit boards one on top of the other.

Is there a rim shot trigger ?

Yes there is a rim shot trigger. Your electronic generator has to be set correctely to use it. Refer to the manual. Usually the trigger is carried on the same cable and has a "different waveform characteristic" which your Roland sound generator recognizes and reacts to.

Rim sensor not functioning

Here is a link to some great help:http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Electronic-Drums/ You can use Radio Shack piezo transducers as replacement triggers if you need to. They are much cheaper but take a little careful work. Hope this helps.

Screen on roland td7 lights up but is blank

Look for a contrast control for the display... often a small tweek shaft that comes out of the case. This is only if the thing operates but has no display.

What does the polarity + - switch do on Roland PD7 & KD7 pads do? also is it possible to purchase replacement internal triggers for these & how do the thin plastic actual trigger parts work...

The polarity switch selects whether the pressure causes a positive or negative electrical spike. This can affect whether your drum MODULE fires on the hit or when the hit is lifted.

Thin plastic triggers are an electret plastic and have piezoelectric properties.when their shape is changed by pressure, etc.
