Authenticate windows vista

The authentication number or password key code is usually available on the computer case. Look for the tag that tells you what operating system is on the computer and there you will find the key codes.

Need to find a copy of the Recovery CD for Acer Aspire AS4339-2618 please

It's best to just reinstall windows. Look at the side of your computer for the Certificate of Authentication (COA) sticker. It will tell you which operating system you have and it will show you the Product Key Code (a series of 5 letters and numbers). Borrow an Operating System Disc from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker that is the same as what is listed on your COA Sticker and install it. Make sure you get the Product Key Code from their computer if it is not listed on the Disk. Sometimes when it comes to activation it will want the key code from your sticker and sometimes it wants the one from the disk that is being installed.

You'll be much better off with a clean install of windows than having a factory restore and all the bloated software you don't want.

Impossible unless there is a recovery partition on your hard drive.

Problems restoring my Toshiba L305 to factory settings

I'd doubt that the hard drive is bad. Most times the Factory Recover does not work especially from the discs.

Why not try reinstalling Windows, because you've probably wiped out your operating system by trying the recoveries. Look on the bottom of your laptop or inside the battery case for the Certificate of Authentication (COA) Sticker. It will tell you what verion of Windows you have and it will have your registered Product Key Code (series of 5 letters and numbers). If you don't have an operating system disk, then borrow one from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker. It has to be the same operating system that is on your COA sticker or it will not work and you won't be able to activate windows. If your COA says Windows Vista Home Premium, you can't use a Windows Vista Home Basic operating system disc.

Sometimes activation can be tricky so when you come to the part where it asks for the Product Key give it the key from the COA Sticker on the bottom of your laptop. Sometimes it will not want yours but want the key that came with the software you borrowed so if it is not on the packaging ask the person your borrowed from to give you the Product Key from their COA Sticker. Don't worry, theirs is theirs and yours is yours.

My inspiron 1018 won't boot. i need to reinstall or repair my software. it does not have a cd drive. please advice action.

The Dell Inspiron Mini 10 series of netbooks come with recovery software that can restore your netbook's original factory settings. Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbooks with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 can be recovered to the factory settings using a recovery partition on the hard drive.
Windows Vista or 7
Turn on or restart your Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook. Press the "F8" key repeatedly when the "Dell" logo appears on the screen to be redirected to the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.
Highlight "Repair Your Computer," and then press "Enter."
Highlight the language layout you want to use for your keyboard and click "Next." Enter your username and password if prompted. Click "OK."
Click "Dell Factory Image Restore," and then click "Next." The recovery software on some Dell Mini systems may require you to click "Dell Factory Tools" followed by "Dell Factory Image Restore" and "Next."
Click "Next" if you understand the netbook will be restored to its original factory settings. The recovery process will begin.
Click "Finish" when a message appears saying the recovery is complete. The netbook will restart and boot up to the Windows Vista or Windows 7 set-up screen, where you can begin personalizing your netbook.

Windows XP Recovery
Turn on the computer. Press the "Ctrl" and "F11" keys at the same time while the computer is booting up to access the recovery software.
Click "Restore."
Click "Confirm" to begin the recovery process, which shouldn't take longer than 10 minutes.
Click "Finish" to restart the computer and finalize the installation. Click "Yes" to restart the netbook again. The computer will boot up to the Windows XP setup screen

Here is a link which will take you to the site which will allow you to download a ZIP file with a WEB PAGE type service manual for your 1018, after a 45 second wait. (They want you to sign up for premium service but NOT NEEDED) Click again after wait?
After download, open the ZIP file and copy all contents to a new folder. Double click the Contents.html file to open in a web browser, then use the built in shortcuts to navigate the manual.

Hi,

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction.
NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so

Purchase computer 3 yrs ago with Vista. Turn on computer today and black screen with This copy is not geniune in bottom right corner. Need confirmation ID but no one at Acer or Microsoft will help me...

Several possibilities:
1. a computer-virus is displaying that message.
2. Windows itself has messed-up, i.e., _falsely_ issuing the message, for no good reason;
3. somebody installed a "bootleg" copy of Vista.

Look on the bottom of the laptop.
Is there a genuine Microsoft sticker, indicating that the computer was shipped with Vista (or XP???) pre-installed? Is there a 25-character product-key?

If you have the original "System Restore" set of CD-ROMs that were factory-shipped with the computer, then backup your data (to an external disk-drive), and reinstall Windows, using that product-key on the sticker.

If you don't have those CD-ROMs, ACER will courier-ship you a replacement set ($20 plus shipping).

So, in brief, backup/reinstall/restore.
