A pdf file is a text document and can't be 'opened' as such in VB. Try copying all the text in the pdf file, open VB, start new project, and paste.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

My vb proj.works in my pc bu not in the org. for it has been made

Hi,

You should use Package & Deployment wizard (its there in visual studio 6 only under menu)
Create a package, include all dependencies, include database file (i guess you are using msaccess)
Once the package is created, go to Deployment wizard, to include the package created, you'll then get one Setup (as usually softwares are packaged)

If you go like this, you dont have to worry about the dependencies in your project or any runtime lib that might required.
It will work anywhere where you install your software like u usually install others.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Exe file created not running on other pc.

Hello narensg

In order to be able to run a program (EXE) in a computer, that computer must have Visual Basic RUNTIME MODULES.

please tell your friend to install this runtime modules:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/install/6/win98me/en-us/vbrun60.exe

after installing this package, he will be able to run your program.

Kind regards,
Jerry H.

Stand alone vb programme

yaa you can use the Setup Wizard from your VB for your project. It will make a setup for your project and will put all the runtime required files in a same folder, with your project executable with a setup.exe file. Copy all these files in any device like CD,DVD, Flash memo etc, in a same folder. And run this setup on any computer to which you want to install it.

Then your project will run on that computer.

Thanks

Auto-Delete in just one click

You need to use the FileSystemObject of the Scripting Runtime library. See here. This library is not part of the standard VB references by default so remember you will have to find it in the "References" list and check it so that it is added to your project; it is under "References" as "Microsoft Scripting Runtime Library". However bear in mind that calls to delete files from a VB app are high-level requests to the O/S, not direct kernel commands. If you have any kind of file lock contention you won't be able to delete a given file.

The best way to blast an entire drive would be use the DOS 'format' command. You cannot run 'format' though on the system drive, and it will take longer to format a drive than to erase all files, though formatting will really do it. You would use the Shell command in VB to execute the DOS command.

See here and here.

You can also use the Shell command to execute the "del" DOS command recursively against the drive. The FileSystemObject is basically doing that under the covers, so it's not too far away. Finally, you can use API code to do it, though I am guessing you are not quite there yet in your experience. But if so, take a look at these articles:
