Go to safe mode and return the settings back to day when it was all working fine. Use system restore.

When connecting the projector to a Dell Latitude 5520 Laptop(with Windows 7)with docking station the screen goes black on the computer and the projector does nothing. Is this a driver problem?

It may be that the drivers are outdated, ie compatible with Win XP but not Win 7.
What you could try, if not already done:
Start>Printers and Devices>
Right-click the projector icon, select troubleshoot.
Also select drivers, compatibility to see if any errors are reported.
The black screen may be your video card or CPU transferring all video data to the projector port to conserve RAM.
Failing all the above, I can only suggest you visit the projector website and look for the latest up-to-datest drivers for Windows 7.

My screen goes dark when I use my laptop. I have a docking station with monitor and the machine works fine. However when I undock or start up with just the laptop the screen goes black. I can still see...

Hi wilhejl,

I see that you are experiencing a video issue with you back light on this case,
you mentioned when docked on your docking station you see the video on you monitor but when undocked you get a black LCD screen and see shadows of what is on the LCD screen.

this is a back light issue that you are experiencing.

We can try and check some settings regarding this concern and se if there is anything we can do to correct what you are experiencing with your laptop

As soon as you turn your Laptop on keep on tapping F1 to will bring you to the BIOS screen if the BIOS shows up on you LCD screen without going black then most probably yo may need to change some settings in windows regarding the the LCD and power options.

  • Try docking back into your docking station and inside windows go to power options, and set your system power options to balanced.
  • On your Desktop right click anywhere on an open space to get the menu list click on personalize then click on display then click on advance settings, look for screen refresh rate change it to 59Hrtz then undock from your docking station and try booting into windows without using the docking station to check if the video will show on the LCD again on this issue.
I hope that this can help regarding your case,

Have a nice day.

When HP 6710b laptop is undocked issues arise unless it's

What OS?
this laptop came with
or W7
during its production run.... so... we start there.
up grade to 7, the other 2 have no support,
However, the HP site still has it , while the clock ticks, (the 10 year clock is about to delete support.
so get the software while still there{hint})

see below, ive guessed XP-32b ( worst case)
see this, then see the item, software solutions (21)
then see SOFTPAQ? "HP Softpaq, down load manager"
using the correct OS< get this HP software , install it. then
run it and it will load all the correct drivers to you PC like magic. (HP is best, and this is one prime example of best)
then play docking?

BSOD means.
XP , full of viruses, as all are now, avoid XP like plague. (OS corruption can BSOD super easy...)
Memory bad, try running it on 1 stick, at at time.
DMM sticks.(aka, RAM)
XP with wrong drivers loaded. BSOD.

same with VISTA it too is DEAD OS, now.

in the same box above. (online)

Turn off laptop to undock/dock?

Yes, You can just push the big "undock button and undock it anytime.

However, if you are using a "hardwired" internet connection, you will lose connectivity.

Otherwise, it is perfectly fine to do so.

Docking Station problem

You can try to update any system utilities drivers and docking station drivers. However, I found that with IBM and Gateway, when you remove a running machine from the docking station they tend to glitch just a bit and when you redock them they have issues. Your issue is the docking station attachments, I've also seen issues with the monitor only, mouse only and keyboard on the laptop, all not working. I've had a couple that if I used the "safely remove hardware" then they would work when removed then redocked, but not all machines give the safely remove hardware option with the docking station. If yours does, try that. If it doesn't and there are no driver updates or the updates don't work, then, unfortunately, I'm afraid you'll just have to live with restarting after every redock. One other thing you might try is, after redocking, do a hardware search. It may find the attachments. I know this is also a pain, but it may be easier than rebooting every time.

IBM Thinkpad T41 docking station USB ports

Try removing all the USB devices in Windows Device Manager with the laptop docked. To do this: Right-click My Computer, left click Manage. On the right side of the window, click Device Manager. On the right side, click the + sign next to USB Devices. Highlight each device under this heading and hit Delete on your keybaord to remove all the devices in order. Then right-click Computer at the top of the list and click Scan for Hardware Changes.

Hopefully Windows will re-detect your USB devices and get them back operational.

Hope this helps!
