Hi, Based on the information provided, it seems that the issue is with the channel broadcasting. As the issue is happening only with the 5 channels, the issue can be resolved by reprogramming the channels. You can check if the TV is having the option to fine tune the channels. If the option is not available, then check if the Auto Program option is available to re-program all the channels in the TV. This should resolve the issue. Please feel free to get back to us if you require any further assistance. Thanks for contacting FixYa.
It sounds like everything is working correctly to me. Voices / spoken dialogue should mostly be from the front speakers and surround audio (music, effects, etc) from all speakers.
The TV screen is in front of you so the people on the TV screen are also (technically) in front of you. Naturally, I would expect the spoken dialogue to come from the front speakers only - except in some instances, where dialogue in the movie is from a character not currently on screen. If you had voices from both in front of and behind you when the characters are only in front of you, it would be totally disorientating.
If you have audio from all five speakers during a movie then all of your connections and settings are correct. The problem you are describing is really just a description of how surround sound works.
I hope this helps. If I misunderstood the question or the problem, please let me know.
You have two options with closed caption feature.
Captions of Text
A caption is a printed version of a dialogue narration and/or sound effects of a programme. Text is information not related to the programme that appears on half of the TV screen when available.
To view Caption or Text
Select the desired programme. Closed captioned programme are usually marked in your local TV listing as "CC"
Press CAPTION/TEXT repeatedly to select caption or text mode.
Press 1/2 to select the caption or text channel.
To turn to off the closed caption feature, press CAP/TEXT repeatedly until captions or text no longer display 0n-screen.
The colored jacks match up to the jacks on tv. Tv must be turned to AV channel, Or input channel. The ports they are plugged into should have a channel printed by them. If you are hooking it up through a VCR it is the same. Whatever it is hooked up to has to be on the right channel. Channels are usually: AV or Input
The owner's manual should have a section on how to balance the system. I don't have one at the moment, but I believe that this model also has a setup tone generator option. Look in the owner's manual or online at Yamaha for a copy of it. This will contain the instructions for the setup.
