    Same Problem

  • chucklehead Feb 19, 2008

I have the exact same problem; I can enter spaces and symbols, beyond that, nothing.

  • Anonymous Jun 28, 2008

I have exactly the same problem, the predictive text will only let me type in spaces and full stops! It's getting really frustrating. It takes me far longer to type a text message now.

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

your phone's text entry mode is currently set to 'predictive text' which means the phone is trying to 'guess' the word that you want. Teenagers find this easy to use and fast, but I, like you, absolutely hate it.
This mode is easily changed. When you start to write a text message, before entering any text press the 'hash' key (bottom right) sequentially until the top left of your display title bar shows 'Abc2' this means your phone is now in ordinary text entry mode.
You can also change the case (capitals etc) by sequentially pressing the 0 button (bottom centre).
Hope this helps

I would like my samsung d 500 to stop operating predictive text. thanks

The option for predictive text is called "t9". You can see it when you are typing a sms. If you press "right soft key" it will change the mode from capitals to lower case to predictive text to number to symbol.
It is page 24 of the manual. http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200510/20051010150938375_SGH-D500_UG_Eng_Rev.2.1_051010.pdf

& = special characters
Abc2 = predictive text.

Hope that helps.
