this is what i rendered to another person asking about replacing belts in a tape transport

Can you not retrieve you tape ?

this is caused by a safety feature, your tape is not damaged more than it might already be, if your take up spool the right side dos not rotate when it is suppose to it registers a fault. in all cases it simply dos not play the tape.
some other units require the loading of the tape path components IE pinch roller/ and tape pickup heads if this function is interrupted and unable to complete its cycle you will not get your tape back until you disassemble and manually advance the function to it`s conclusion ARE YOU PREPARED TO UNDERTAKE THIS PROCEDURE ?.

I am trying to load a new roll of labeling tape into the Dymo Organizer 1610. But the tape doesn't advance properly into the front part of the machine that does the printing.

Before inserting the tape into the feed mechanism, bend the last 1/8 inch of the tape upward at a slight angle. This will insure that the tape feeds properly. I just learned this by trial and error.

My neighbor is having trouble setting his VCR to record when he is not home. He said the VCR comes on, but does not record. He does not have the original remote control. Is there some place I can...

I hope you are not making the simple mistake of trying to record on a cassette which has a broken write protect tab. If you are, tape it up with some cellophane tape. Or try a new cassette.
Is the instant record function working otherwise ?. If so forget about the record protect tab.

When I attempt to print from any software ie Word, Adobe, etc, the printed page comes out in reverse. When I hold the printed page up to the light and turn it over, I can see, through the paper, the...

Some printers have a function to print in reverse for special purposes (glue-on prints, iron-over-a-white-t-shirt-and-get-it-decorated, and so on).

Apparently this function got switched on in your printer's Properties page, so you'll have to turn it off from there. It is usually called "Mirror" and is either on the Advanced Function tab or the Print Layout tab. I don't have an Officejet handy now, but on my Ricoh I have "Mirror Output" in Properties -> Advanced. Postscript printers have it under Advanced PS.

Printer labels do not advance when print is hit

CAUSE: my guess would be a stripped gear or a lack of prssure on the "pinch wheel" which would cause a loss of traction on the paper feeder.

SOLUTION: 1- change the stripped gear (if it's stripped)
2- add a layer of adhesive tape on the loose pinch wheel (if it's loose)

both solutions require to open case (to access loose wheel or stripped gear). To determin what the probleme is, try to run a print and try to move or pull gently on the lable ribon while in function. Two possible outcomes are that the gear will only "hook" in some areas if it's stripped. If it's loose the paper will only move while pulling on it.
