2. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration Menu”.
3. Press and release the “OK” button.

9. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the printer and wall outlet.
10. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall outlet first and then into the back of the printer

The Printer will start the “ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.

I brought my C7280 into a repair shop and spoke to HP tech support. Both said the printer needs to be replaced. This process fixed it in 2 minutes. Does HP think that by intentionally trying to avoid repairs I would actually by another HP product? Thanks for this tip.

ERROR 0xc18a0001 Ink system has failed Quite new

Try the link below. This error is related to air in the lines between the print head and the cartridges. It is quite common and HP are very aware of this.

HP C7280 printer: "Pump motor stalled" error

This means there's a failure in your printer's pump motor.
If you are still under warranty, contact HP's Customer Service here : http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html
If not, you can try your local computer store for a check-up but they'll probably suggest a new printer.
Hope this helped.

HP error code 0xc18a0001 on my HP C7280 all in one printer. I am using non HP inks and have just filled all of them up and reset the printer chips. I have been trying to fix this problem for 6 months now...

That is an ink system failure code.

This happens alot using refillable and reset cartridges.

Try this..
1) unplug power
2) hold the power button and reinsert power cord
3) let the printer boot up

4) try it...if it works fixed.

Also HP has some special firmware upgrades available if you get hold of them by email or chat.

Also...don't tell them your using Non-HP ink, or they will drop your call like a hot potatoe.

You might try some HP inks and see if the cartridge change to HP works.
