Coffee spilled on my Macbook

My daughter accidentally spilled coffee on my macbook. It was being charged on at that moment...what should i do with this? Could the service centre tell that liquid was spilled on it?

My daughter spilled a small amount of sweet tea on the right edge of the keypad. Now the keys are stiff and make a crunching sound.

Hi. Was your macbook open at the time? If os, then the beverage may have gone deeply into the machine. There is some protection from a bit of the elements under the keyboard, but not waterproof protection. also speaker areas and between where the monitor meets the frame. Also the battery compartment and memory compartment are breachable as well. The service center will probably know moisture to a large degree has entered the chassis of your computer. I said probably because it obviously damaged the computer, hence the need for a service center. Coffee gets in there and really can create a problem. Especially if there was mild and sugar in it. Good luck to you. It may be OK. Pretty sure your hard drive is at least.

So does it not turn on anymore now? If it was spilled on the keyboard and the liquid didn't penetrate so deeply you are probably fine by just replacing the palm rest. There are macbook repair guides online that show you how to replace that part.

When liquids meet electronics, you can't waste time. Conductive liquids cause most of the initial damage. Immediately unplug the laptop from its power cord, and pull out the battery. Don't bother closing programs or saving data. Stand it up on it's side to get rid of excess coffee. THEN...
Depending on your available tools and disassembly skills, remove more parts. Unscrew the outer case, and remove the plastic shell to expose the internal circuits. You can disassemble parts even further, separating individual components to help them dry. Do as much of this as you are comfortable with. Coffee is corrosive so you want to have ready an alcohol-based cleaning agent and q tips.

I accidentally spilled nail polish remover on my macbook. it works fine now but i've noticed the fan runs more frequently now. is this normal?

it's possible you got some inside your mac. When it heats up, can you smell the remover? It might be that it dried inside and is being reheated every time you use the mac.

When you cleaned the keyboard, did you take ALL layers apart and clean them with alcohol? Most have 3 layers of conductive film. One missed spot will create problems.
