SOURCE: 2003 rendezvous transmission fluid change

  • A full transmission fluid change, like as in a flush, requires 9.5 quarts of DEXIII/M transmission fluid.
  • If you are going to be dropping the pan at home to swap the filter and gasket you will not loos near full capacity of transmission fluid. For this you may loose 3 quarts (give or take a bit). 4 Quarts on hand would be plenty for this case.
  • Don't forget to (with you foot on the brake) run the transmission through the every gear for a few seconds to fill the pockets before you check the level. if you do drop the pan.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

A 2002 Buick Rendezvous FWD transmission fluid change how much fluid do I need? I also discovered leakage, Do I change the gasket and pan as I am about to change the ATF filter?

Is the pan gasket leaking ? You would normally get a new gasket with the filter so the gasket gets changed too.
Most models hold about 4-6 quarts of ATF. I would start with 4 and add until the trans is full. Your torque converter does not get drained.

2004 buick rendezvous transmission hesitates from a stop and bangs int gear.

There are very high chances of your transmission fluid emptying out or being very low. you should get that checked. I went through something similar and by the time i took my car to the garage to get transmission oil changed my transmission system was badly damaged.

hope this helps. good luck.

Auto trans slips

Check for the fluid level. If it is low add fluid. Check for leaks. If it is not low, have you serviced the transmission every 50,000 miles? If not it is likely you have worn out the clutches in the transmission and it will need replacement.

Have 2003 Buick Rendezvous cx, has 175,000 kilometers, the transmission seems to have a slip when you go from reverse to drive, but only once in awhile, what could this be.

Have you ever had the transmission fluid changed? If not, it COULD be the problem. Don't take it to one of those Fluid Flush places. They don't change the filter and just pump out some of the old fluid. Go to a place that drops the pan and changes the filter.
I also use SEAFOAM transmission conditioner shortly BEFORE I change the fluid. O'Reilly's sells it.
Good Luck.

I have oil in the cooling system?????I also have about 3.5 quarts of oil in a verry shoet time.Engine runs good and does not smoke.Very little sign of leaking oil. What should i look at first.Intake...

It happened to my 2003 last year. My mechanic tells me that there is a transmission cooler built into the radiator that has cracked or somehow opened to allow the exchange of fluids. Cost me a new radiator, and flushing of both cooling and transmission fluids. 3 months ago the head gasket went. I don't know if it was related. Oh, and I had to flush the cooling system a couple of times as trans fluid remnants continued to show up in the coolant overflow reservoir. I recently checked my trans fluid, and it looks brown about 18 months later, might go for a BG flush soon. Car runs fine

this is pretty vague considering your asking for specifics when there can be sveral problems for each question. You need to get this inspected before it leaves you stranded.
