Question about Apple MacBook PC Notebook

Macbook screen blotches

My macbook scree developed blotches/white pathces, while I was cleaning the screen. The macbook was swtiched off while I was cleaning.
It looks like some kind of a liquid spillage.

Will it clear off, or the screen needs to be changed/repaired ?

If you go to turn on your laptop and loads to your os and the spots on the screen remain there then most likely you have ruptured the liquid crystals in the screen by pressing too hard when you were cleaning the screen with the computer off. you could lightly touch the black spots with your finger and if it displaces the black with a white halo effect around your finger (DO NOT PRESS TOO HARD OR WITH FINGERNAILS DIRECTLY ON THE SCREEN) then it will mean that you will have to replace the screen because it has busted the crystals definately. InstallatIon of Mac OS X 10.4.10

White screen issues on your Macbook are more often than not, an indication that you may have a connected peripheral or device which may be hindering your Macbook's normal start up function

What you need to do first, is remove all peripherals from (printers, scanners, USB drives etc.) and then reboot your Macbook.

If your Macbook starts up normally without a white screen, leave all the peripherals disconnected and see if you can proceed to run all of your software updates, in Apple menu>Software Updates, first, including updating to the final version of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger, 10.4.11.

Once all of your updates are completed, then you will need to go through a process of elimination by connecting one peripheral at a time, then properly shutting down and restarting your Macbook with each device, to see if your Macbook goes to a White screen.

Depending on the number of peripherals you have normally connected to your Macbook, this may seem a little tedious at first. But considering how bothersome a White screen is, it will be worth it solving the mystery of which peripheral is causing the white screen and failure to boot up normally.

If it turns out that one of the devices you had connected was in fact, causing the white screen, this will be the opportunity for to research online, visiting the affected device's manufacturer's website or even use Google, to confirm if there are any known issues and/or updates available to address that issue.

There are other variables which can come into view with a white screen issue, but this is a good way to start in terms of working toward a viable solution to this issue with your Macbook.

I hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions.

When I turn my MacBook air on a blank White screen

Leave the Macbook air turned on until the battery goes dead. Then Connect to power and start it up. That should solve the problem. You problem was caused by not letting an update install in full.

My Macbook pro scree has flickered and gone

It's usually the inverter and not the backlight. You can replace it yourself, it's not that hard.

Fixya.com is a good place to get started. They've got really user friendly guides that will help you from start to finish. Check it out so you know what you're up against.

Otherwise a local Apple tech via craigslist is probably the cheapest route. Or Applecare if that's still a possibility.

Try resetting the computer.
  1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the computer's battery.
  3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
  4. Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
  5. Press the power button to restart the computer
Good luck

Monitor non functional

Am I correct in understanding that your MacBook is operating properly, but when you attach your external monitor it doesn't show anything?
I often connect my black MacBook 2GHz to my flat screen's VGA port. Sometime the screen doesn't respond for one reason or another. The fastest solution is typically to mirror the screens then return to normal. When that doesn't work, it's usually enough to restart the MacBook while it's still plugged in to the external monitor. If neither of those work, try connecting to a different monitor or finally try replacing the connector.
Unfortunately those connectors don't have the best life spans. (See Apple's customer reviews on DVI connectors.)

Macbook Screen Error

Does it only show up when the computer is on? There were a few reports of several MacBooks having video card issues that caused this problem. Take it to an Apple store and have a Mac Genius look at it to confirm.
