Power nozzle shuts off and like there is s bad wire electrolux epic 6500

the plastic wands are a problem sometimes, but the most common failure is the pivot, or swivel neck on the power nozzle. The wires are bad to pull loose or even break inside. Take it to your local vac repair shop and have them look at it. You either have a bad wand or a bad swivel neck most likely.

Reset button

on the ergonomic handle design the vibration will sometimes cause one of the switch leads to come loose. Remove the handle tube. Lay the handle tube flat on a bench or table and remove all the handle screws. Work handle haves apart and you will be able to see if the switch leads are loose. If not, the wires inside the power plug may have become separated by somebody yanking on the cord, rather than pulling the plug. With a meter or test light, you can check continuity between the plug and handle wiring. The only thing left is the motor, but let your local repair guy do this, because it can be a bear to get out and re-installed.

I just bought a Hoover Power Drive Concept Two Electronic vacuum from the thrift shop. It only needed two belts and seems powerful. But i don't understand what the small red button on the handle marked...

The U6311-903 is a self propelled vacuum. The the small red button will stop the handle from moving back and forth, which makes the machine go foward and backwards. The red button disengages the self propelled feature.

I'm unable to pull the HEPA filter out of the canister. Any ideas?

Sometimes fine dirt gets caught in the filter housing that will not allow it to release. Just get more aggressive with it and it will come loose.

Replacing the power switch of the Eureka The Boss 4870 vacuum

its actually just held in place with two small plastic clips. so just gently start pulling the plastic housing up. it will pop off with some force. not so much that you break anything however. but there are no screws or anything. to get it back on you will need something to pry away the plastic section where the slots are for the clips. that way the clips can fit back in the slots instead of just dead ending into the handle. im sure there is a more proper way, but sometimes you have to get it done. my vacuum just stopped working one day. when I opened it up, I pushed the little connectors pretty hard back onto the switch. one of them clicked a bit. as it turns out it was just loose and therefore not making a proper electrical connection. so I pushed it snugly back together, jammed the housing back on, replaced the screws, and had it running again. just make sure to unplug it while you do this.

Self propel will go foward, but will not reverse. Seems like handle is all the way extended.

There is a cable that connects to the handle and goes down to the powerdrive transmission. It is visible at the actuator arm on the drive if you look at the bottom of the handle where it pivots on the main housing. It will be on the right hand side, front corner of the handle bottom. You should be able to see the cable connected to the arm of the drive and will move back and forth with the top handle. Sometimes, they break at this connection. The cable may be frayed and broken, or the acuator arm may be broken where the cable connects.
This could also be a simple worn belt problem. The roller is always rotating in a direction that pulls the machine forward and if the belt is worn, the roller will turn sluggishly but still enough to pull forward, but the belt also drives the transmission and a worn belt will not have the capacity to overcome the forces involved to propel the machine backwards. Always change the belt(s) yearly.(on average)
