Sounds like the fan bearings may have gone. Its very easy to replace, open the case and disconnect it (will only be via one power connector).

Now unscrew it from the rear of the case. You can either go without the fan as on a system of your power it isnt vital, or you can buy an 80mm fan from ebuyer or novatech for around £2 gbp to replace it.

The fan has been very noisy especially when I boot the machine, do I have to replace it? what are steps of replacing

This depends on what "fan" you are talking about. If it is something that is part of the computers case then the manufacturer may replace this for free. If it is a fan on something internal such as the fan on the video card or even the processor, these can be replaced but are a little more difficult to deal with. You will have to find the exact size fan and try to replace them. If the part that the fan belongs to is not too old, I would contact the manufacturer just incase the part can be replaced by them.

Fan is noisy -loud wheezing sound. No dust. Banging on case sometimes stops the noise.

The fan has a noisy/worn bearing, I recommend replace the fan.
Banging the laptop base is not recommended, you could damage the hard disk.

It is not the memory causing the issue. You either have a clogged fan and heat sink or a bad fan. This will solve most heat issues with the laptop.http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/faq.html

Install this software and put the fan on manual high. That should help a lot if the fan is still working.

Noisy, Chattering fan with fisher & paykel fridge.

HI. Just so you know, Hissing and popping is normal on frost free refrigerators, it is the defrost heater, in this case. I would check these following areas to address any other abnormal noises.

If the level of the unit is not adjusted to proper specs, this will create an unstable operating condition, causing many noises to emit from the units structure. inspect the unit for proper level. adjust if needed. Next will be the drain pan. Once removed for cleaning, the pan must be replaced in position correctly. If not, the pan will rattle against the compressor, causing a ping or rattle.Simply reposition the tray if this is the case. The third possible issue will be the condenser fan. The condenser fan is located behind the refrigerator. It may be necessary to remove an access panel to reach it. This fan has a shroud, and if the fan blade becomes warped, it will rub against the shroud, causing noise. This fan blade is whole, and it can be removed and replaced if this is the case. Ok, the fourth problem spot will be the evaporator fan.

The evaporator fan is located at the back of the freezer. It may be necessary to remove obstructions such as the contents of the freezer, freezer shelves, ice maker and the rear inside panel of the freezer. The rear panel may be held in place by retainer clips or screws. Remove the screws or depress the retainer clips with a small screwdriver. Check the fan for warped blades. if the blades are warped or mis-aligned, replace it. This fan also is protected by a shroud as well, and it will make noise if the fan blade is damaged.

Last, i would move on to the compressor mounts. This is the most common spot for noise overtime. The compressor sits on rubber mountings. Those rubber mountings are designed to absorb vibration from the compressor. As the mountings age, they can become hard or disintegrate. When this happens, the compressor vibration is transmitted to the refrigerator structure and it can cause noise.

The compressor is located in the rear. It may be necessary to remove an access panel to get to the compressor.

Locate the compressor and remove the screw or retaining clip of just one of the compressor mounts.Using a pry bar, lift up the compressor enough to slip out the rubber mount. Inspect the mount for deterioration. The rubber should be firm but not rigid. If the mount is crumbling or hard, it should be replaced.

This concludes the inspection procedure. Follow carefully, and replace any failed or damaged device.....

Hi I have a HP Pavillon a708 and the fan is almost constantly on. It's really noisy and seems to slow the PC down, is there anything I can do??

First, open up the case and gently vacuum all the dust, especially around the 2 fans.

If still noisy and the problem is the cooling fan (3-5 inches across), buy a replacement fan of the appropriate size at a PC store for $30 - $40. It takes 5-10 minutes to unscrew the old fan and install the new one, and just use the same electric wire from the old fan for the new fan.

If it's the CPU fan, you'll need to have your PC serviced.

Hope this helps.

Noise

Adding cloth or any other sound absorbing material will not work. There is not enough room to add anything appreciable in the fan area.

Cpu Fan error

Do you have a manual for the mother board?? Sounds like someone forgot to plug in the fan or you didnt say if the fan was working on the microprocessor or not?? If its not working then the plug for the fan should be right by the socket fore the processor. If it is working then theres a setting in the bios that has to be reset. I would take the board to or ask the person you bought it from about it. Did you buy the board with a case or all pieces separate? Good Luck
