KDF-E42A10 Sony TV bought in March 2006 is starting to have blue streaks in the TV display from the upper left hand corner in a blob shape coming gradually to the middle of the screen. What is the solution and is this worth repairing? What is the life expectancy of this model?

I would first try a new lamp. If the reflector portion of the lamp has any defects, it could show up this way as the light would not be uniform. The next possibility is a defective light engine. The engine portion if not field repairable and would need to be replaced. Try the lamp first and let us know what happens.

check to see if your green and red lamps are lighting. if they are not then go to your convergence board and check to see if you are getting the right voltages. the voltages are written on the circuit board on some tv's. i believe that you are having problems with your convergence.
