Hardware if you have the same think as me, which it sounds like you do, its a hardware issue. i think it is the graphic card. i tried reinstalling the hardware, reinstalling drivers, and i even formatted to base factory settings. i still got it. so hardware is the only thing that comes to mind

Intializing device application error

When the mother board does not give an error, and only after you try to install the new operating system the error appears, you must check something else. Don't try to put back a backup with another graphics card, because isn your backup could sit wrong drivers.
After new hardware, first install the OS from scratch.

My VGA has been corrupted. How can I fix it?

Hi , I suggest to check for any thermal issues including condition of the video card fan / heat sinks ie dust ,
If supported you can run a LINUX disk like Ubuntu in live / try mode
If video works ok , then most likely a Windows environment incl hardware conflict or virus / driver corruption issue ,
but if not then most likely a video card hardware issue like bad card cooling fan or excessive dust - thermal shedding issue or card bios/chipset fault

If a likely software issue then uninstall and then reinstall the video card
Consult ASUS or Nvidia support

The procedure is something like this
Onboard video support ?
yes
uninstall the video card driver and any video vendor configuration applets
Uninstall video card in device manager if still present.
Shut down and remove mains power cable
remove the hardware video card ,
(using anti static electricity procedures)
Attach onboard video to display
Power up and enter and configure BIOS setup if required, ie 1st seek onboard video
Bootup to Windows
Install the onboard video device
using Windows plug&play default driver executed during booting
Restart
Confirm working ok
Update the chipset driver (inf) if applicable,
restart
Shutdown
Reinstall the hardware video card
Attach to display
Reconfig BIOS setup if required
Start to install default driver
Install video driver / update from card default using a known good driver whose setup file has been previously downloaded
restart and test

Hope this helps

When i turn my computer dell latitude d620 on it comes to the dell screen then the windows xp screen and then it goes black with nothing more than the mouse. what could be the problem?

This sounds like a video issue. Try starting the system into safe mode (after the dell screen, tap F8 to get the startup menu and then select safe mode) When in safe mode, go to the control panel and remove the display adapter driver from the device manager under System > hardware tab. Try booting into normal mode windows- you should be able to get into windows at that point. Download and reinstall the graphics driver from support.dell.com. If the issue reoccurs after you've reinstalled the graphics driver, it means that the video card on your system has gone out. At that point, contact Dell technical support if you are in warranty to get service- if not, try pricing the replacement video card from Ebay or Dell parts service.

Sound issues for many months

I take your system sound was working fine when you first got this machine. working up until they went bad. you understand what I mean they worked at one time now they don't. there for I many have download some wrong installed remove and still left some change that afects the sound driver now. It could be hardware that's easy to check buy a pci sound card 29.00 encore enm232-6bvia 5.1 channel surround sound card
put in if your sound is board your system you may disable it in your bios. disable your old hardware if can.
install your new sound card drivers and use it. if your sound is great problem solved. you will also know that your sound card o board system is provably good and you ned to do a complete reinstall remove then drivers and un install sound software. reinstall latest driver for your system sound and software packet check it. you could know a friend thats got a card you could borrow with software and drivers. save some money and the driver removal and reinstall

hopes this helps sound drives and be a nightmare. I've had mine you win by force or software luck.
please let me if I helped good luck.
