Question about Dell Photo 926 All-in-One Printer
Do all numbers & letters on back of cartridge have to match exactly?
As long as the manufacturer says that they are compatible, you should have no problems. As inks may vary from one batch to another, you may notice image quality issues, but as far as numbers go, it's enough that it is certified to be compatible with that type of printer..

Just found this partial fix: "Try removing the color cartridge and try printing with the color cartridge out. If it gives you a message that the cartridge is missing, it will still allow you to print by clicking "continue". And from there, it will allow you to print black. I think it really is a problem with your color cartridge." From searching the net, this seems to be a major problem with no solution from Dell!

the printers are set to do this so you will buy there own brand but there is a way to reset the printer so it will work, I"m not exactly sure how, I'm trying to find that out myself. if you ask at the place that refills your cartridges they might be able to tell you

Ink may be new, but their nuzzles may be blocked; depending on manner of storage. To be sure apply a folded tissue paper to the ink nuzzle and press firmly. If the tissue comes off well blotted with ink it means you still have a good amount of ink in it and the nuzzle is not blocked. If not blotted or scantily blotted, it means ink is really low or nuzzle is blocked. To be very sure of this, place nuzzle in a plate/saucer with a bit water so that the nuzzle is soaked. Leave for about 10 minutes. Then apply the tissue again. If still not well blotted it means ink is really low or empty. If new you should return it for a replacement. In the case of blocked nuzzles, the procedure may be repeated over to get results.
