What version of the OS do you have?
you probably need to install the os fix from a recovery cd.

SOURCE: BOOTMGR is missing

This error can be corrected by reloading your Laptop's Operating System from the Restore disks you got with your computer. Place your Restore disk into the drive and restart the computer. The install will re-create the missing Boot Manager.

SOURCE: I have an inspiron mini 10 and it is saying

I would do a Windows Repair. Find your green Dell CD that shipped with the computer and boot to that. You may need to enter Setup to change the boot order.
Instructions here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx
This will not harm your data, it repairs just the operating system.

Proper booting up, what needed to type f4 or f2

Restart your computer

During the boot process you will see on the screen a certain key to press usually the Delete or F2 to enter setup this may vary depending on your computers bios other possible keys

Acer: - Ctrl+Alt+Esc

ALR PC: (F2) or (Ctrl)(Alt)Esc)

AMI BIOS: (Del), (F1) or (F2)

AST, Advantage, Award, Tandon: - Ctrl + Alt + Esc

Award BIOS: (Del) or (Ctrl)(Alt)(Esc)

Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS using the arrow keys navigate to Advanced Bios features press Enter you will see what the boot order is set to.

IDE-0 means Pri master ?
IDE-1 means Pri slave ?
IDE-2 means Sec master ?
IDE-3 means Sec slave ?

If you are unsure on what the boot order should be you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart.

This will set the boot order.

My Satellite A40/A45 Series won't boot up.

If NTLDR is missing, you will need to do one of two things:

1) follow this link and follow instructions to create a NTLDR boot disc and get back up and running

or

2) boot to Windows CD and repair Windows installation

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)
