Once you loose a password and lock up a PC, the only way to clear it is to use a Start Up Software such as SpotMau . Com software called PowerSuite.

I forgot my bios password on my toshiba satelite M70

Forgotten BIOS passwords can be extremely difficult to reset or otherwise solve said problem.

The first thing to try is removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard of computer for a solid 30 seconds. Doing this will certainly clear the CMOS. After performing this simple procedure, try to boot your computer as normal, and see if the BIOS password is gone.

If it is not gone, you'll need to get a copy of your motherboard's manual and find out if there is a jumper procedure for clearing the BIOS password. This will usually entail setting a jumper, turning on the computer, waiting a certain amount of time specified in the manual, turning off the computer, and finally removing the jumper you set to clear the BIOS password.

After those two possible fixes things get pretty hairy, and I would suggest you simply contact the manufacturer (not the retailer) to see what can be done, if anything.

Laptop is asking for a boot password

You need to clear your CMOS settings, where the password is stored. It is volatile memory, but there is a small hidden battery that keeps the memory stored. You need to temporary remove it.Remove the small plastic cover on the bottom where your RAM/Hard drive reside. It should be a single screw. There will be a small 3v Lithium Ion coin battery in there. Remove that battery, remove your laptop battery, and unplug your power adapter. Leave it all unplugged fora couple minutes, put it back together, and your password will be gone.

Lost password for acer aspire desktop

BIOS Password is stored in CMOS and retained by power provided by the CMOS (Coin-cell) Battery.
To Reset the BIOS Password, Remove the CMOS (Coin-cell) Battery from the motherboard for five minutes and restart the system. This will load the factory default settings and the password would be gone. Re-install the battery after the password is reset.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

My gmail addresses are gone....

First, you can check to see if the email information is stored in Firefox.

In the browser, go to: Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords
novaweb_6.gif

Then in the password dialog box, type "google.com" in the search field. That will display a list of all google accounts which are saved in the browser. To display the passwords, click on the "Show passwords" button.

If the Gmail account information is not stored in Firefox, you can then try the Gmail password recovery pageL

Power-on password

Computers that have been setup with a power on password are virtually impossible to guess if you have forgotten the password.
Password protection is setup to prevent people accessing the computer without authorisation. There are no backdoor passwords you can use to get in.

Password protection is usually set up on two levels, first on boot up and second it may also include a password on the hard drive. This is to prevent the hard drive being taken out of a computer and inserting into another (it won't work in another computer).

If the password is saved in the BIOS then it is possible to remove the password by removing the BIOS battery for 1/2 + hour, then reinsert the battery and configure the BIOS again with the date. time, etc. and allow to to boot up into Windows.
Laptops such as IBM Thinkpads, Compaqs use a EEPROM chip to store these passwords and removing the BIOS battery won't work. If you are skilled electronically, you can build a piece of hardware and with a program read the contents of the EEPROM to identify the password, then use this password to get into the computer and then if you can remove the power up password and/or hard disk password or change them.
