It is possible you might have picked up a virus, or a bad device driver. Try a system restore taking the computer back in time before this happened, may resolve the issue.
The touchpad is very small on this netbook, so the ratio between the finger movement and cursor movement has to be high in order to be able to move the cursor from one side of the screen to the opposite.
The cursor cannot be too slow, because you would have to glide the finger several times on the touchpad to move it across the whole screen.
However, the speed of the cursor can be adjusted in the mouse properties in Control Panel (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Mouse) in the Pointer Options tab. Experiment with different settings to find one that suits you.
With such small touchpad I would suggest forming a habit of rocking the finger on the touchpad to achieve better precision and control, instead of sliding it. Put a finger on the touchpad center and tilt it left/right, up/down - You'll see that the cursor can be controlled quite well this way. And if you need a larger movement, then it's enough to move the finger the normal way.
Good luck and please come back with a rating/testimonial if helped.
Does your mouse use a ball for movement? Look at bottom of mouse. If so you could have a ditty unit. You can turn the ball cover counter clockwise and remove the ball. Clean the ball and the rollers inside the mouse. Replace the mouse ball and cover and retry the mouse.
Maybe I am not understanding the question, but you normally would use one of the remotes, make sure the receiver bar is either at the top of bottom of the screen and use the remote pointed at the screen to move the cursor around, click on the desired object using the A button on the front of the remote. Remote has to be pointed at the screen for the cursor to move around and any movement you make will move the cursor.
When you press ENTER to finish working in a cell, Microsoft Excel
moves the cursor one cell down by default. However, you can select the direction
in which you want the cursor to move.
On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the Edit tab, do one of the following:
To change the direction in which the cursor moves, select the Move selection after Enter check box, and then select a direction
in the Direction box.
To keep the cursor in the current cell, clear the Move selection
after Enter check box.
Note When a range or set of ranges is selected, pressing ENTER moves
