You can't go wrong with Kitchen Aid
Hello, Mary -
I trust the appliance evaluations done by Consumer Reports [magazine.]
This link is to a Consumer Reports article from Aug 2015 rating electric ranges:
https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2014/09/best-electric-ranges-from-consumer-reports-tests/index.htm
Your local public library probably subscribes to the print issues of Consumer Reports. The magazine probably has a more recent issue than Aug 2015 with evaluations of electric ranges. Therefore, I suggest you visit you local public library and ask one of the reference / information librarians for assistance in locating one of the magazine's more recent evaluations. Note: Back issues of the most recent years of Consumer Reports may be kept behind the Reference / Information Desk, as may the annual Consumer Reports Buyers Guides for the past several years (to help keep library clients from appropriating them.) :)

any high tech range or any appliance for that matter that is high tech has a greater risk of repairs, the smart solution is to purchase an extended warranty on the appliance so if it does need to be repaired it will not cost you any additional expense
btw kitchenaid makes a fine range

F2-E5 is "Cancel Key Drive Line Open"
Here is the procedure
1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

Make sure to have your model number handy.. before calling a repair man or ordering parts..
Hopefully it's a lose connection..
Best of luck!
Testimonial: "Knowing this and that the cost of ERC will help me make up my mind to fix or replace the range. It is about 20 years old. Have a nice day!"
